When it comes to The Sims, even if you don't have all the expansions there's tons of stuff out there you can download for free. From makeup to objects, custom content creators have something for everyone. But let's say you can't download anything, and you're just looking for a pack with the best items to invest in.

Well, good news: not all EA-created content is necessarily bad. In fact, the wearable objects have become much better for The Sims 4 as time has gone by. Here, we've compiled five of the coolest-looking items from CAS, as well as five of the most terrible.

10 Cool: Outfit From Cats & Dogs

Cats & Dogs didn't just introduce our two favorite domestic animals to us. It also came with a whole host of comfy outfits to fit the general theme of Brindleton Bay. From animal-themed shirts and the like, many of the clothes are kind of average, except for this men's everyday outfit.

This piece is so well-made it almost looks like a piece of custom content. The sweatshirt and the pants are fitted in a nice way, and the checkered shirt tied at the waist just adds a little relaxed touched to this super casual and comfortable look.

9 Terrible: Flower Dress From City Living

There were many things that City Living really did well, such as introduce multi-cultural clothing and apartments. However, some of the more generic clothes tend to be massive letdowns. They rarely fit the body type of any of your Sims, and they look cheap.

One of the worst offenders is this flower dress. We get the idea behind it as a red carpet dress with embroidery, but it just looks strange and baggy. It doesn't complement your Sims' form and the flower patterns are badly made.

8 Cool: Outdoor Outfit From Discover University

We're not going to lie: Discover University is probably one of the best expansions in terms of CAS items. It felt like the designers finally understood how to make clothing that looks good on just about any body type, and that has nice and cool details.

This outfit is an outdoorsy type of jacket with jeans, and a turtleneck shirt underneath. It's casual yet stylish, and the texture looks very, very stylish. You could almost imagine this as another Maxis Match custom content item, which is why it's among the best.

7 Terrible: Boots From City Living

The shoes are something the designers in general still need to spend a lot of time working on. Many of them look clunky and cartoon-like, without any proper detail or a solid idea behind them. City Living is yet again the offender here when it comes to this pair of boots.

There's so many things that come across tacky about these shoes: the metallic tips, the straps with the metallic buttons and the bright color swatches to name a few. Most importantly, we still can't figure out who would wear these shoes in their right mind without looking like someone out of a circus.

6 Cool: Jacket From Get Famous

Get Famous wasn't exactly the best expansion when it came to its neighborhood, but it did introduce a bunch of pretty cool CAS items. From props used in movies to uniforms that the studio staff could wear, the designers really thought about everything. Including the rich and famous.

This jacket gives us some serious rich girl vibes, inspired by Scream Queens' Chanel Oberlin. The fact that it's an excellent piece is further proven in the fact that so many recolors have been made of it by custom content creators. Not to mention, the fuzzy texture looks really good.

5 Terrible: Shorts From Get Together

Some of the worst items in The Sims 4 will often make you tilt your head to the side and ask: what am I going to do with this? Well, these shorts from Get Together had that exact effect on us and most likely a hundred other players when they were first introduced.

While the shorts themselves aren't that bad, and only need a bit of refining to their texture (and perhaps a few more swatches that aren't bright colors), the straps are just something we can't quite comprehend. Sure, there are strapped shorts out there, but at least they look kind of cool. These just look strange due to their bulkiness.

4 Cool: Jacket From Get To Work

We have to give EA credit where it's due, and this jacket definitely makes the cut. Introduced first in Get To Work, it's a very simple jean jacket paired with a white T-shirt. The swatches are satisfactory, but what really matters is the beautiful simplicity of this item.

Although it's just a jacket, the patterns and texture are high quality. It looks fantastic on your Sim, and is fitted in a way that makes sense. Moreover, the colors are just right, making it the ideal jean jacket for any casual guy Sim in your game. Now, how good would this look on women?

3 Terrible: Outfit From Discover University

Earlier we praised Discover University to the heavens, but no expansion is without its black sheep. Now, maybe we're missing something here, but this outfit does look a little bit bizarre in our eyes. Something just doesn't quite seem right.

While we imagine it attempts to imitate the look of a classic artsy hipster, the pants are pulled way too high, which just makes our Sim look like an young man in an old man's outfit. We appreciate the rolled sleeves and pant legs, but please, EA, drop the pants just a few inches and we're good.

2 Cool: Sweatpants From Discover University

You know what Discover University did splendidly, though? Casual and athletic clothing. We all remember our university years and how comfort went above everything else. EA understood this perfectly, and gave us the most aesthetic collection of comfy sweatpants.

These ones in particular are our favorites. They have an ideal width, and the texture is very well made. There's no awkwardness going around in the waist or around the crotch, which is typically an issue with EA-made pants. These ones, however, look spectacular on anyone.

1 Terrible: Shirt From Spa Day

We don't usually hear a lot about clothing in Game Packs or Stuff Packs, probably because they tend to be a bit insignificant. Alternatively, it's because they look something like this shirt which you can find in your Spa Day Game Pack. We've selected this swatch in particular, although the other swatches are almost equally terrible.

Our only question here is...why? Who thought this patterns was a good idea? Even in the real world, we can't really imagine where you'd be able to find a shirt with such a horrendous pattern and color combination. Hopefully, we never will.
