In 2021, The Sims 4 continues to change and grow, adding new features and new DLC like the Paranormal Stuff pack. As the game continues to grow, players may forget some basics in this expansive Sims. One of those things that can be easy to forget it how to age toddlers.

Aging in the Sims

There are seven total live stages in the Sims 4: baby, toddler, child, teen, young adult, adult, and elder. Toddler was not originally part of the life stages of this game; it was only added as another step in the lifecycle in Patch 46, proof that the Sims 4 continues to grow even into 2021. Unless a player has aging turned off, a player's sims will age as the game progresses, switching naturally from one live stage to the next in a set period of time.

Short lifespans cover about 48 days, normal about 93 days, and long lifespans a whole year or more. Sims don't age while pregnant, but they age at every other time. While players normally have to wait for their sims to age to whatever, they can move along the toddler to child aging process through the magic of baked goods.

Before Aging Up Toddlers

The main reason to age up a toddler is to ensure that the player earns toddler rewards points for raising the child well. In order to collect all of these points, sim-baby parents have to level up a toddler's Imagination, Communication, Movement, Potty, and Thinking life skills. Each of these skills become even more important in successive stages of the child's life. A toddler with high Thinking will be smarter in successive life stages, for example. So if players want to build out some impressive Sims 4 family trees for their sims, they should level up their toddler before making them into a child.

In order to up these skills, make sure to fill their rooms with toys, keep them clean, water and feed them well, and make sure to interact as much as possible. The more levels in each of the life skills a toddler can have will add up to more points for the player after they become a child.

Easy Life Stage Changes

In order to change a toddler to a child in Sims 4, all players have to do is have one of the adult sims bake a cake. The flavor doesn't matter; just make sure that the cake gets some candles. Next, have the toddler blow out the candles. There should be a pop up letting the player know that the toddler is now a child, and that this child's levels gave the player some toddler points.

The Sims 4 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
