EA Games will be releasing a new Deluxe Edition for The Sims 3 this month. This will include the core game, with the Ambitions expansion pack that was released last June.

The Ambitions expansion allows you to control your Sim while they are at work, doing laundry, and participating in new careers, skills and traits. Additionally, players will get the new town of Twinbrook and be able to play as Servos or Simbot.

The new and improved careers are as follows:

  • Normal Careers: Educator.
  • Professions: Architect, Doctor, Firefighter, Ghost Hunter, Private Investigator, Stylist, and Tattooist.
  • Skill Careers: Fishermen, Gardener, Inventor, Nectar Maker, Painter, Photographer, Sculptor, and Writer.

This appears to be another attempt for EA to pull in some additional money from The Sims 3 series; at least until the next expansion, Late Night, comes out on October 26, 2010. For those who have not purchased The Sims 3, this isn’t a bad deal. However, there will more than likely be a better deluxe edition around the holidays that will include one of the other expansions, or at least the addition of holiday items. EA Games has a track record of releasing an expansion pack for The Sims one month after another.

Sales numbers for The Sims 3 have been some of the strongest for EA Games, and the future of the game appears to be cemented on the Web already. According to a recent article, EA has purchased domains for The Sims 4, 5, 6, and 7, which shows it sees a vast future for the game.

Between the various special-item download packs and the updated-expansion packs, The Sims 3 will more than likely still see a handful of new products before the end of its run. The Sims 3 is also slated to be released on consoles October 26, for Xbox 360, PS3 and the Wii.

You can take a peak at some of the newer careers or ambitions that your Sims will experience in The Sims 3 Ambitions trailer.

You can currently pre-order The Sims 3 Deluxe edition through the EA store for $49.94. It will be available on September 28, 2010, for both Windows PC and OS X.
