Everyone has grown to love Bart's character. While mostly only consisting of two ingredients: brotherly hate and teenage boy rebellion, Bart has a couple of heartwarming scenes that prove that he is in fact a lovable human being. Most of these revolve around his sister and some unexpected nice gestures towards her, or his few attempts to do good. These scenes can be tear-jerkers.
The Simpsons, apart from creating humor with the dysfunctional everyday life of this family, uses the show to critique, and truly show the workings of a modern-day average family. And these scenes hit right where it hurts, as they're the most relatable.
10 His Christmas Present
Marge doesn't lose her temper often, but when Bart is caught shoplifting from Try-N-Save in season seven's "Marge Be Not Proud," she and the family exclude him from activities as punishment. Bart, scared that his mother will never love him again, goes back to the mall and has a nice portrait taken of him.
He gives this picture to Marge as a Christmas gift, and Marge is touched by his efforts to change, letting him know that she does love him and always will.
9 When He Covered For Lisa
Lisa isn't known as the rebellious and naughty character, but after a series of bad news in season three's, "Separate Vocations," she snaps and steals all the Teachers' Editions books.
When Bart realizes that she could be expelled for this act, he turns himself in and takes the blame. When questioned he says that it's because Lisa can't throw her bright prospects away.
8 His Breakdown
It's clear that Bart is not as smart as Lisa, but after failing multiple times, he decides to actually apply himself and study hard for an upcoming test in season two's, "Bart Gets an 'F.'" After studying an entire day while everyone else is playing outside, he still fails on the test.
He has a breakdown and shows that he genuinely cares and feels terrible about it. Because of this, the teacher decides to give Bart a D-, and the family proudly puts it on the fridge.
7 Lisa's Birthday
However stubborn Lisa is, she opens up about how it hurt her that Bart always forgets her birthday in season three's, "Stark Raving Dad." In the same episode, a fake Michael Jackson (voiced by real Michael Jackson) comes to Springfield, Bart once again forgets his sister's birthday.
At the end of the episode, Bart writes a special Happy Birthday song for Lisa and performs it with "Michael," ultimately cheering her up and proving that he cares for her.
6 When He Didn't Take The Winning Shot
When it turns out that Lisa is a gifted hockey goalie, a usual brother-sister rivalry begins in season six's, "Lisa on Ice," and it's as serious as ever. When Bart gets a chance to shoot the winning shot, he decides to instead remember all the good times with his sister, and they end up embracing, making the game a tie.
5 When He Burned The Centerpiece
Another time Marge loses her temper is when Bart destroys Lisa's Thanksgiving centerpiece in season two's, "Bart vs. Thanksgiving." Marge loses her patience and is furious at Bart, who as a response, runs away from home devastated.
At the end of the episode, Bart sits on the roof and hears his sister crying, and they ultimately make up. This episode perfectly shows the ups and downs of the lives of brothers and sisters everywhere. The only important thing is to make up after the fight.
4 Lisa's Favorite Album
This is one of the first times a character on The Simpsons is killed off. With the death of Bleeding Gums Murphy in season six's "Round Springfield," Lisa loses a friend and a mentor, one of the only people who understood her. After a funeral with low attendance, Lisa decides to buy his album and play it on the radio as a tribute.
Unfortunately, Lisa can't afford the 500 dollar album. Bart chooses to buy her the album from his saved money, giving Lisa a chance to achieve closure. This entire episode is a dollar coaster of emotions, filled with heartwarming moments.
3 Jessica Lovejoy
Everyone does strange things when in love. Bart becomes infatuated with Jessica Lovejoy in season six's "Bart's Girlfriend," and ends up changing his ways for her, trying to prove his worth, as boys often do.
While this story quickly gets out of hand with Bart returning to his old ways, it's nice to see a gentler side of him brought out by a crush.
2 When He Gets His Heart Ripped Out
The heartbreaks of teenagers are always heartwrenching to watch. When Bart falls madly in love with his babysitter, Laura Power, in season four's "New Kid on the Block," he refuses to acknowledge the vast age difference. As a result, viewers are shown how Bart's heart is ripped out of his chest, and no one could help but empathize with him.
1 His Future Self
Bart will never lose his soft side for his loving family. In a heartwarming scene, future Bart is shown lying in a hospital bed surrounded by pictures of his family as he cherishes the memories while "Winter's Love" plays in the background. Even the toughest viewers can't help but melt at this memorable scene from season twenty-three's "A Totally Fun Thing Bart Will Never Do Again."
