Hideo Kojima is a renowned video game maker, and after creating the acclaimed P.T., many have been keen to see the creator tackle the Silent Hill franchise. Unfortunately, a Kojima led iteration of the Silent Hill games does not appear to be in the works and the director has opened up in a recent interview about completed and canceled projects. In fact, the interview dispels a handful of rumors.

Many players are familiar with Hideo Kojima's work with the Metal Gear Solid franchise and his new venture Death Stranding, which split fan opinion. While the merits of Kojima's work are often debated, many enjoyed P. T. which acted as a demo for the Silent Hills game. Since this demo, many have been keen to see more. Yet it seems that Kojima recently had a major game canceled, and many fans believe this to be the rumored horror game.

Konami has already denied a Kojima led Silent Hill game being made, and it seems that, although it was wanted by fans, any possibility of the game becoming available is gone. In an interview, Kojima claimed that a big project he had planned to do had recently fallen apart. Many fans believe this big project to be Silent Hills, but there are other possibilities. It is worth bearing in mind that since the release of P.T., Kojima has left the company that owns the Silent Hills franchise and created his own production company. In those years, it would be unusual to keep working on a game that the company has no legal right to, although it is worth noting rumors indicated before that Kojima and Konami could be working on a deal. Still, with that in mind, the project could have been something else, but it is unclear what.

In this interview Kojima also addressed rumors that Death Stranding had been a commercial failure, claiming that it was a "success." As such, it will be interesting to see how Sony funds rumored new Kojima Productions ventures and whether the company was a factor in the canceled project. It seems that players will never know all the projects that Kojima has been involved with and the factors that have impacted them, but many will be pleased that the previous project that made it to consumers was successful.

While evidence suggests that Kojima may not be connected to a Silent Hill game, there is still hope for fans of the franchise. Many are expecting a new installment in the Silent Hill franchise to be announced for the PlayStation 5 after several rumors, leaks, and statements, and that is likely unconnected to Kojima. This will please many fans although some will still wonder about what could have been.

A new Silent Hills game has yet to be revealed.
