The future of the Silent Hill franchise may be approaching faster than expectations. After rumors spread over the past several months that a Silent Hill game was in the works at Sony, and perhaps even a second game, many may have believed any official announcement must still be a way off. The Silent Hill leaker is back, however, and ready to break more news. According to the leaker, the new Silent Hill game is set to be revealed soon.

Dusk Golem is a Twitter user and leaker best known for their reliable Resident Evil-related leaks, yet they've since dabbled in news regarding a relationship between Konami and Sony to make one or two Silent Hill games. One game has purportedly gone through successfully and is in development, made by the director of the original Silent Hill game and his new team.

Perhaps the Silent Hill game is farther along in development than expected or perhaps Sony wants to get the game officially announced since there are so many leaks and rumors. Either way, the announcement of Sony's Silent Hill game could be coming soon, according to Dusk Golem. While there are no official PlayStation or PS5 events announced for the near future, an event announcement at any time between now and the PS5's launch this holiday season wouldn't be surprising.

For those wanting to know more about the new Sony Silent Hill game, some early details have leaked. It's apparently going to be a soft reboot of the franchise and not a full reboot. Exactly what that means isn't clear, but Dusk Golem has said that they're going "a bit farther" with the idea of a soft reboot than other games in the franchise.

As for the other potential Sony project, Dusk Golem teased that it was being offered to Kojima Productions. It would have been Silent Hills. However, Dusk Golem's latest leak is that Kojima would likely be rejecting Silent Hills because he has something even more exciting being offered to him.

It's been almost 8 years since the last games in the Silent Hill franchise were released. P.T., Kojima's Silent Hills demo may count,  but even that is years old now. The Silent Hill brand may not be what it once was, but there's a clear possibility that Sony is willing to test that. Hopefully this rumor proves true and horror game fans hear an official announcement "soon."

Silent Hill is a rumored PlayStation game being made for the PS5.
