While an official announcement still has yet to be made, rumors and leaks have persistently pointed to a Silent Hill reboot being in development as a PlayStation 5 exclusive. Silent Hill fans should take these leaks and rumors with a grain of salt, but they have come from fairly reliable sources. And now we may have some insight as to why it's taking so long for the rumored Silent Hill PS5 exclusive game to be revealed to the public.

In a post on Resetera, leaker KatharsisT answered a question about the status of the Silent Hill PS5 exclusive game. KatharsisT said that the rumored Silent Hill PS5 game was still in development, but that the studio developing the game has changed. They stopped short of revealing the name of the new studio working on the Silent Hill PS5 game, and while they didn't say that this is why a reveal is taking so long, one could infer that the studio change could very well have something to do with it.

It was never clear from the leaks and rumors which studio has even been working on the Silent Hill PS5 game. That being said, the prevailing theory was that the game was in development at Sony's Japan Studio, with Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama serving as the game director. Sony's downsizing of Japan Studio and Toyama forming a new company to work on an original horror IP makes that incredibly unlikely, however.

Of course, it's possible that Sony's Japan Studio was working on the Silent Hill PS5 exclusive game, but that the decision to downsize the studio is what has seen the project passed on to another developer. All of this is just speculation at this time, though, as the Silent Hill PS5 game has not been announced in any official capacity, and there is no substantial evidence to suggest a secret partnership between Sony and Konami.

If Sony and Konami are working together, though, it will prove plenty of "leaks" in recent months correct. Not only is Sony rumored to be working on a Silent Hill PS5 game with Konami, but it's also rumored to be producing a Metal Gear Solid remake as well. Like the Silent Hill project, the Metal Gear Solid remake is believed to be a PS5 exclusive game that's in active development at Bluepoint Games, the studio behind the critically-acclaimed Demon's Souls remake.

Until an official announcement is made, Silent Hill fans should take all of this information with a massive grain of salt.
