Rumors have been swirling for months that Konami is finally moving forward with a new Silent Hill video game, rumored to be a "soft reboot" of the franchise and set to be a PlayStation 5 exclusive thanks to special funding by Sony. After the abrupt cancellation of Silent Hills, fans of the classic survival-horror franchise have refrained from getting their hopes up, and while it's still possible that the Silent Hill rumors are fake, we may learn more sooner rather than later.

Industry insider and Resetera user KatharsisT has hinted that the rumored Silent Hill PS5 game will be revealed at some point in May. No solid evidence was provided to back up their claims, but with May right around the corner, fans won't have to wait long to find out if there's any truth to it.

If the Silent Hill reboot does exist and its reveal is happening in May, one has to imagine that it will be unveiled alongside the PS5 console itself. Rumors and speculation have pointed to Sony finally revealing the PS5 console design in May, as well as showing off some of the next-generation console's games. A Silent Hill reboot would drum up significant excitement for the PlayStation 5, especially considering the messy history surrounding Silent Hills' cancellation.

Other rumors have claimed that Hideo Kojima would be working on the new Silent Hill PS5 game as well, but those reports have since been disputed. If the rumors and leaks are to be believed, Kojima was reportedly offered the opportunity to develop the new Silent Hill PS5 game, but passed on it for one reason or another. However, Kojima has been pretty open that the next game he makes will be a horror game, so even though it may not be Silent Hill, it should still be plenty exciting for fans of the genre.

In the meantime, fans of the Silent Hill games should take this information with a grain of salt. There is no concrete evidence backing any of these rumors up, and it's possible that the supposed Silent Hill PS5 game doesn't exist at all. Luckily, with May right around the corner, the legitimacy of these rumors should be revealed in short time.
