Christophe Gans, the director of the first Silent Hill movie, says that multiple games are in development. Despite the rumors of Silent Hill projects of recent years, this is one source that fans may want to pay attention to.

Where there's smoke there's fire, as it was recently confirmed that a Silent Hill game was rated in South Korea. Even though this mysterious new Silent Hill game has been kept close to the chest in terms of any kind of tease or announcement, it does imply an upcoming SIlent Hill release, which is a reason to be excited for fans of the franchise. It was at first suspected to be a mobile game, but according to Gemantsu it is actually a console game titled Silent Hill: The Short Message, reportedly published by Uniana. Fans may want to keep their eyes and ears open for anything official in the months to come, especially if recent comments by the director of the first Silent Hill movie has anything to say about it.

A French interview with Christophe Gans shows the director opening up about not just one, but multiple Silent Hill projects in development. The director has previously teased another Silent Hill movie that he is working on, and through this, he is said to be collaborating with the SIlent Hill team. This is certainly a heavy tank of fuel to the fire that is the ongoing Silent HIll rumor mill, consisting of multiple Silent Hill projects in development, including not only the recently rated game but also classic Silent Hill games returning to Steam.

The "Welcome to Silent Hill" sign as reimiagined in Unreal Engine 5.

"I'm working with the Silent Team, the original creators at Konami, there are several games in development as we speak, there are several teams on it, with a big line of games, they will revive the franchise. I think they were really impressed of the success of the remakes of Resident Evil that are evidently exceptional games."

One of the other rumors that have circulated is a remake of Silent Hill 2 allegedly by Bloober Team, whose images of what appeared to be a concept build had leaked online. Silent Hill fans should take some of these rumors with a grain of salt, although it is likely that at least one Silent Hill project is on the way. The Game Awards may be an area of interest, as that would be the likely place if it is to show up in some capacity before the end of 2022.

There are reasons for and against a SIlent Hill resurgence, especially given Konami's previous track record. However, due to the recent critical and financial success of the Resident Evil remakes by Capcom, it is understandable why Konami would want to dip its toes back into video games, and under a talented team of developers that understand and respect the franchise, it might not be such a bad idea.
