Rumors have been swirling that Kojima Productions is making a new Silent Hill game in collaboration with Konami. While this sounds completely outlandish to some, these rumors have been backed up by a recent Kojima Productions post that had some potential easter eggs that pointed to a new Silent Hill game. Now Masahiro Ito, a game developer known for working as a monster designer on Silent Hill games, has also been drumming up excitement about the possibility of a new Silent Hill game.

On Twitter, Ito tweeted out "Pyramid Head, R.I.P." with no further explanation. However, hardcore Silent Hill fans may recall that Ito once said that he would only work on a new game in the series if he didn't have to use Pyramid Head or could kill the character off in the opening. It's possible that fans are connecting dots that aren't really there, but it's also possible that Ito is genuinely teasing a new Silent Hill game.

Ito's tweet is especially exciting when one considers the timing of the Kojima Productions Silent Hill tease. The proximity of the tweets seems to lend more credibility to the theory that Kojima Productions is in fact producing a new Silent Hill game of some kind.

Hopefully some clarification comes sooner rather than later. The Kojima Productions tease did suggest that more information would be coming "next week" so perhaps an official announcement is right around the corner. Of course, fans should keep their expectations in check, as it's just as likely that these "teases" are just coincidences and that Kojima Productions is working on something completely unrelated to Silent Hill.

Whatever the case may be, we do know that the next game from Hideo Kojima is supposedly a horror game. So even if the game isn't a Silent Hill title, it could very well be a new IP in the same spirit.

The Hideo Kojima Silent Hill rumors have been swirling for months now with no clarification from either Kojima Productions or Konami. Until either company comments on the matter, it's likely that the rumors and speculation will intensify. If the Kojima Productions tease can be believed, though, it seems fans may get some much-needed answers in just a matter of days.

Silent Hill is rumored to be in development.
