A new Silent Hill game has been teased by a popular manga artist. There had been rumors that Sony was looking to buy the Castlevania, Silent Hill, and Metal Gear series from Konami, but Konami denied that such a deal was happening.

On Instagram and Tumblr manga artist Suehiro Maruo, who is known for his violent horror creations and for making art in the erotic grotesque style, posted two images that had Silent Hill fans feeling excited. The first image seemed to show the words "Silent Hill" written on a gravestone and Maruo had written "afternoon invitations hope you'll join in" underneath it. In the second photo, the artist showed a picture from Konami's offices in Tokyo, suggesting that he was there for some sort of meeting.

Maruo hasn't confirmed what he was doing at Konami's office, but one popular suggestion is that it's to help develop a new Silent Hill game. This wouldn't be the soft Silent Hill series reboot that some fans want, but Maruo's work in horror manga could fit the series. The Silent Hill games do have themes of sexuality and sexual repression and Maruo's style of erotic art could make that a much bigger part of the next game in the series.

It's also unclear who would develop a new Silent Hill game. While Konami could just be developing the game on its own, there have been rumors that Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions would be making the game. Kojima does want to make a horror game, so few fans would be surprised if that's the next game that Kojima Productions is developing.

On Twitter, Kojima Productions' head of communications Aki Saito posted about Silent Hill, which was one of the first things that had fans talking about a possible new game from the developer. Saito may have just been teasing fans but it is an odd thing for a marketing person to post if no official announcement is going to be made.

Fans also want to know who will be publishing the next Silent Hill game and which platforms it will be on, with one report suggesting that Microsoft wants to buy the Silent Hill series from Konami. That report could have just been fabricated and created because of the initial Sony Silent Hill rumor but it leads to more questions about the next game. It could mean that the next Silent Hill and Maruo's work on the game could be exclusive to PC and Xbox Series X.
