Rumors regarding a new Silent Hill game being in development are running rampant. Until now, however, most of the rumors haven't been particularly reliable. But the newest Silent Hill leak comes from one of 2020's most prominent leakers and it's certain to make fans of the franchise excited. According to the leak, a new Silent Hill game is currently in development and is as far as a year and a half along. The leak confirms that the new Silent Hill is being made in partnership between Sony and Konami.

The leak comes from Dusk Golem via ResetEra. Dusk Golen is also known as AestheticGamer on Twitter, where they've leaked a ton of Resident Evil and Capcom-related information over the past several months. Dusk Golem now says they have information about the Silent Hill Sony collaboration. The biggest news is that Sony is developing the game using the Japanese team best known for Gravity Rush and Siren. That includes Keiichiro Toyama, the director of the original Silent Hill.

Toyama had reportedly been wanting to make another horror game for some time. However, due to the limited amount of success of the Siren and Gravity Rush series, Sony's willingness to give Toyama a substantial budget was limited. Around two years ago, Konami then began looking for developers for two different Silent Hill projects. Sony somehow managed to come away with a partnership, though Dusk Golem admits they don't have further information about this.

Dusk Golem goes on to describe that Sony and Konami will be sharing development costs for the new Silent Hill game, but that they'll share the profits, too. With Konami's support, Sony is ensuring that Toyama gets a substantial budget. However, the budget is still going to be smaller than other games from Sony. Toyama apparently still has to prove himself.

In addition to Toyama, many others who previously worked on Silent Hill are back and involved with the new project. Names mentioned include Akira Yamaoka, composer for the Silent Hill franchise, and Masahiro Ito, art director for both Silent Hill 2 and 3 and the monster designer for the original game.

Obviously, a lot of information remains to be shared about the potential Silent Hill game. Dusk Golem does have a few more details, such as that this first Silent Hill project may be unveiled in late 2020. They also insinuate they have more information to share, but haven't been able to confirm it so they're going to wait for a while. Perhaps it's related to the second Silent Hill game that was mentioned. Perhaps it's related to the rumors of a Kojima Productions Silent Hill game. Without official confirmation, it's best to take all of this Silent Hill news with a grain of salt.

No Silent Hill game is currently officially in development.
