Elden Ring is one of 2022's most anticipated titles, it is the next project by FromSoftware, the developers of the hallowed Souls series of games. FromSoftware has described Elden Ring as an "open-field" game, meaning it is not as expansive in scale like The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, nor is it as constricted and hand-held as some of FromSoftware's previous games. The game's development has had a roller coaster ride of information, at one point it being years without any formal update.
In recent weeks, though, a lot of information—some intentional, and some not quite—has come out about Elden Ring. Footage of Elden Ring on Xbox One allegedly leaked recently, which if actually is the game, is the first instance of gameplay shown, with everything prior being either cinematics or in-engine clips of combat or traversal. Most recently though, FromSoftware delayed Elden Ring by about a month or so, but in turn, has announced a closed network test for next month. Fans can register for a chance to play the game, so if they are looking for a chance to try the game early, then they should act as soon as possible and sign up using the link at the bottom of the page.
Elden Ring Closed Network Test Basic Information
There are some key points that those interested in the Elden Ring closed network test should know before attempting to sign up. Those who are selected for the closed network test will play through an undisclosed portion of the game while FromSoftware conducts large-scale network load tests. Like the recent Halo Infinite test flights, this closed network test will only be open for a limited time, with the dates and times as follows:
- Session 1 - November 12th (Fri) from 3:00am to 6:00am PT
- Session 2 - November 12th (Fri) from 7:00pm to 10:00pm PT
- Session 3 - November 13th (Sat) from 11:00am to 2:00pm PT
- Session 4 - November 14th (Sun) from 3:00pm to 6:00pm PT
- Session 5 - November 14th (Sun) from 7:00pm to 10:00pm PT
Interested individuals have until November 1, 2021, to register, and can do so at the Elden Ring closed network test sign-up webpage.
Elden Ring Closed Network Test Registration Instructions
Signing up for the Elden Ring closed network test is actually a very simple process; it takes just a couple of steps on the designated website. Firstly, registrants must first select the console on which they plan to test the game, with the options being, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
Despite it being confirmed that Elden Ring is coming to PC, it appears that FromSoftware will not be testing that platform during this closed network test. It is possible that there will be another network test exclusive for PC users after this console-based one, but as FromSoftware hasn't announced anything, it is hard to say.
After selecting the console, applicants must select which FromSoftware games they have played. Users can choose from a large portion of FromSoftware's library including Demon's Souls, the Dark Souls trilogy, Bloodborne, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Also available as options are Armored Core 5, and Armored Core Verdict Day, as well as options for FromSoftware titles that are not listed, and not having played any of the listed games.
It is unclear whether these selections will influence one's candidacy for the closed server test. To complete the application, users must finally provide their E-mail and verify their humanity through a captcha.
