Sifu launched back in February 2022 to generally favorable reviews, with many fans appreciating its approach to the Kung Fu beat 'em up genre. They take on the role of a martial artist seeking revenge against those who killed his father, with the unique gimmick being that every time he dies, he ages up. It provided a unique roguelike element to the game, prompting hardcore fans to beat Sifu without aging a day.

Back in May, developer Sloclap released Sifu's Spring update that brought in difficulty options, a dark mode UI, advancing training, new outfits, and more. It was well-received by fans of the game, and now Sloclap has announced its free Summer update, set to release on August 31.

Sifu's free Summer update is introducing new gameplay modifiers, a new scoring system, and additional outfits for fans on PS4, PS5, and PC (via Epic Games Store). More will be revealed in the update's patch notes, but these are the biggest elements fans should be aware of now. The new gameplay modifiers can be toggled on or off to make each Sifu playthrough easier or much more challenging, with fans able to obtain infinite health, structure, and/or unbreakable weapons or even letting enemies ignore a player's guard. Other hardcore gameplay modifiers include making enemies stronger, reducing the main character's HP to one, or removing aging.

To complement this, Sloclap is introducing a new scoring system that better reflects a player's approach to Sifu's combat. It is said to account for every punch, kick, sweep, and finisher, grading players based on their smoothness, efficiency, and the variety of their moves. They will ultimately receive a ranking by how well they perform.

Finally, there will be two additional outfits added to Sifu. The first is called the Enforcer armor, which clads the protagonist in a suit of tactical equipment, and it is only available to those who own Sifu's deluxe edition. The second is available to everyone and is called Master Hand. It promises players a sleek trench coat and stylish hat, and of course, players will need to avoid incoming attacks to keep their outfit intact.

Obviously, August 31 isn't far away, so fans will be able to check out these new features in Sifu very soon. Fans can expect official patch notes from developer Sloclap as the date gets closer.

Sifu is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5.
