Sloclap's independently developed and published Sifu recently addressed its previously delayed release date. Now, fans are excited to receive the martial arts brawler Sifu at its new date of February 8, 2022.

Sifu's hands-on previews have been doled out to the public lately with glowing reviews about its hand-to-hand combat. All that is left for Sloclap is to reach "Gold Master" on Sifu with enough polish that it feels ready to be delivered. Rather, Sloclap has shared that there will now be a different edition of Sifu that fans can purchase that may also have a surprise or two that comes with it.

Sloclap has announced that it has had the opportunity to make physical edition copies available for PS4 and PS5 through its partnership with Microids. While physical copies may or may not interest fans based upon predetermined biases and preferences for how they choose to consume games, it is a fun feature that allows physical-case purists to collect it. However, it appears as though Sifu's physical edition will not simply be a box case alone.

Interestingly, Sloclap's mention about the edition's "content and release" seems to suggest that the physical edition will come with some sort of supplemental goodie. Such content could potentially anything between an official artbook and a collector's steelbook edition. Independently developed and published titles sometimes like to offer folded maps inside the case of a physical edition, though that would be less likely to be included in a game that is as purely focused on corridor-to-corridor action as Sifu.

Sifu currently has two editions up for purchase with the Standard Digital Edition and a Digital Deluxe Edition, which does indeed include an official artbook, titled "The Art of Sifu," as well as the official soundtrack. News of a physical edition is sure to excite fans, though they will have to wait until an undisclosed time this Spring in order to get their hands on a physical copy. "Spring" unfortunately paints a wider release window than many fans would hope for, since it could either arrive nearer to Sifu's launch or farther.

This does not give fans much time to decide if they would prefer to purchase the digital copy over a physical copy, though whatever the "content" is might be enough of an incentive to encourage fans to buy one or even both. Fortunately, Sloclap has stated that more news will be on the way soon, so hopefully fans will be able to make an informed decision soon about which edition of Sifu they would like to purchase.

Sifu releases February 8, 2022 for PC, PS4, and PS5.
