Yacht Club Games just unearthed tons of dirt on what's happening in the Shovel Knight universe. The developer announced one new title, Shovel Knight Dig, and released new information on Shovel Knight Showdown and Shovel Knight: King of Cards. To hype up fans even further, each game got its own brand new trailer.

It has been a busy day at Yacht Club Games. The company released details on three new upcoming titles, as well as updates on Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, a collection of nearly every game in the award-winning franchise that has suffered a substantial delay. Unfortunately, this new info does not include a release date.

Shovel Knight Showdown is a fighting game that features both heroes and villains from the series duking it out; there will be over 16 playable characters in total. It was announced last year with a lengthy multiplayer trailer. The game will contain many ways to play, including one-on-one duels, 4-player free-for-alls, and cooperative team battle, as well as modes like Gem Clash, Showdown, and a Story Mode. Shovel Knight Showdown is local multiplayer only and will be available as a standalone game or free update as part of the Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove.

Shovel Knight: King of Cards is another prequel, like Plague of Shadows, that has players take on the role of a different, prominent knight from the series; in this case, King Knight. This fresh adventure will span 4 new worlds as King Knight attempts to take down the "Three Kings" who rule over them. As with all of the knights in this universe, King Knight will have his own play style, with new weapons, armor, and abilities unique to him. King of Cards will also be available as a standalone game or as a free update in the Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove.

Yacht Club Games is partnering with Nitrome to develop Shovel Knight Dig. In this new story, Shovel Knight will be tunneling after Drill Knight and his digging crew, collecting treasures and facing subterranean enemies along the way. Aside from an entirely new style of gameplay, Shovel Knight Dig will also be the first title in the series to ditch the 8-bit era style it has used up until now. Neither developer has disclosed when the game will be released nor the platforms it will be available on just yet.

Heading to all major platforms in the near future is the long-awaited Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove. The digital version is priced at $24.99, while a physical copy will run $39.99 and will only be available for the PS4, Nintendo Switch, and now the Xbox One as well. The collection will include every Shovel Knight title to date, as well as King of Cards and Shovel Knight Showdown. Shovel Knight Dig will be the only title in the series that will not be included.

To celebrate the collection, a Treasure Trove Amiibo set featuring Plague Knight, Specter Knight, and King Knight will also be releasing. This 3-pack is available for preorder now. These will make perfect companions to the Shovel Knight Amiibo that was released a while back. Using the Amiibo unlocked the special features Custom Knight and Co-op mode in the original Shovel Knight title. Yacht Club Games now confirms these new Amiibo will unlock new challenges and cosmetic armor in their respective games.

Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove will be available for Switch, Wii U, 3DS, PS3, PS4, Vita, Xbox One, Windows, Mac, and Linux at an undisclosed time in the future.
