There is a sign hanging inside of Hoofman's shop in Shovel Knight Dig, and it indicates that the Armorer has left his post in order to smelt a new set of armor. If a player wants the Armorer to perform this sort of smelting for them, they will need to track him down, though they may be unclear about exactly where they should look. Fortunately, it is not extremely difficult to find the Armorer in Shovel Knight Dig, though fans will need to make a bit of progress first.

Shovel Knight Dig: Armorer Location

In order to find the Armorer, players must reach the Smeltworks biome in Shovel Knight Dig. This biome is accessed by beating Spore Knight two times, and roguelite fans will encounter this boss after completing the third floor of Mushroom Mines. To note, players will unlock the Secret Fountain biome the first time that they dispatch the Spore Knight, which may cause them to miss Smeltworks and the Armorer.

Once a fan reaches Smeltworks, they should explore the biome thoroughly, looking carefully for any indication of a hidden room. Typically, this indication will take the form of cracks in a wall, though players may see a smithing hammer stuck in a wall when searching for the Armorer. When a fan of hard video games does find one of these types of markings, they should hit it, use the revealed path to enter the hidden room, dispatch the enemies that are inside, and speak with the Armorer to send him back to Hoofman's shop.

To note, if a player dies in Smeltworks while searching for the Armorer, they can quickly return to the biome by speaking with Whisker, a Shovel Knight character that is situated to the left of the campfire near the starting area. In fact, Whisker can instantly transport fans to any biome that they have unlocked, though they will need to spend Gems every time that they use this feature. Fortunately, Gems are not particularly hard to accumulate, and players should be able to pay for Whisker's services quite regularly.

One final thing to mention is that the Armorer will not be able to make many sets of armor immediately upon returning to Hoofman's shop. Indeed, fans of dungeon crawlers will need to visit varoius locations in order to unlock a majority of the armor in Shovel Knight Dig, and they can find hints as to their locations in the shop. While the process of finding armor can be a bit challenging, the benefits granted by some of the sets makes the endeavor worthwhile.

Shovel Knight Dig is available on Apple Arcade, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
