Furthermore, they will almost always try to escape in battle, making it vital that Shin Megami Tensei 5 players take them down on the first turn in order to get the wealth of experience that they drop. Though, this is easier said than done, as Saki Mitama have shifting weaknesses (like all Mitama demons), which adds to the list of difficulties surrounding trying to beat them in battle.

How To Find The Location Of 1 Saki Mitama In The Netherworld (Da'at)

From the Shiba area Leyline Fount (the one closest to the unique big rock enemy), head southwest into an isolated pocket. This little area will have a central hill, atop which will be 2 treasures, as well as a few Kodama demons (small, paper-like fiends that float in the breeze).

A Saki Mitama will spawn in the southwesternmost corner of this small area. They will be at the base of a slope, slightly away from the Kodama demons.

How Often Saki Mitama Spawns At This Spot

After testing the spawn rate of the nearby Kodama as a control, as well as investigating this area during every possible phase of the moon, it has been determined that only 1 Saki Mitama will spawn here per playthrough.

The first time that the player enters this area, they can find the Saki Mitama, however, it's possible that the golden foe will escape the battle. Thankfully, if Saki Mitama escapes, they can be found here again--albeit a bit later. If the player fails to take down Saki Mitama, return after doing some level grinding or similar time-killing tasks.

If players manage to defeat this Saki Mitama, it will no longer respawn, regardless of how much time passes. This is likely to avoid gamers from level-grinding off of Saki Mitama, as they give one's party a lot of experience.

How To Beat Saki Mitama In 1 Round (& Find Their Weakness)

Saki Mitama, like all Mitama demons, have shifting weaknesses--which means that their weakness will be different every time that one is encountered. Even if the player's party is loaded with powerful demons with great combos, Saki Mitama will be able to innately block any type of attack besides ones that target their sole weakness. This results in it being very difficult to deal damage to them, especially since their elemental weaknesses and resistances are hidden.

How To Find Saki Mitama's Weakness

The information about enemy weaknesses and resistances can be instantly learned by using a Spyglass item on them. Using a Spyglass will take up the protagonist's turn, which means it will be up to their demonic allies to deal all of the damage and take Saki Mitama down. However, knowing what element to use is absolutely worth the 1 turn sacrifice, as this will allow players to use all other turns of this round to potentially defeat the golden Mitama. Spyglasses can be bought from Gustave at any Leyline Fount.

How To Prepare For Defeating Saki Mitama

Having a diverse and full party is the best strategy for defeating Saki Mitama. Since their weakness is random, it would be useful to have as many different kinds of elemental attacks as possible--ideally 1 elemental attack of each type, including Physical (but excluding Almighty-type, as deals neutral damage to everything). It is also recommended to have a full party (4 active members), as this will grant the highest number of turns to take down Saki Mitama.

Other Ways To Find Saki Mitama (& Other Mitama Demons)

shin megami tensei 5 take a look random event

Besides specific locations, Mitama demons can be found in random encounters. After acquiring Amanozako as one's guide, the small ally will occasionally spot points of interest. When the protagonist gets close, Amanozako will fly over to it and will offer an interaction prompt. These points of interest most often have items, however, they can sometimes result in surprise attacks from demons.

Despite the latter seeming like a less welcome outcome, these points of interest are actually the best chance for Mitama demons to spawn. Most of the time, these random battles will be with generic foes, however, on the rare occasion, a random type of Mitama will appear for a fight. Keep in mind that these Mitama will always try to escape the first chance they get, so be quick to take them down!
