In order to buy the various items that are present in the long-awaited Shenmue 3, Ryo Hazuki, the game's main protagonist, must earn his own money. Thankfully, there are a variety of ways to rack up cash, or yuan as it were, quickly in Shenmue 3, and this guide looks to detail one such method.
Get Started by Chopping Wood
One of the first places that will pay Ryo for working small jobs is the Tao Get Store, which can be accessed after crossing the Verdant Bridge in the starting town of Bailu Village. Here, players can speak to Tao Guanzhong, who will offer to pay Ryo for chopping wood. While the pay he offers is fairly low, chopping wood is a simple mini-game, and doing it a few times should set players up with enough yuan to make money fast in Shenmue 3.
Fortune Telling, Gambling, and Pawning
Once players acquire at least 350-550 yuan, they can then head towards the left of Cow Paddock to find a gambling plaza. After arriving at this gambling area, players should purchase around 3,000 tokens and then make their way to the fortune teller, whose shop can be found in the Sunset Hill area and is marked by yin and yang signs hanging from the roof.
Here, fans should pay the fortune teller to tell Ryo’s color fortune, which will prompt her to reveal the character's lucky color. Players must then remember this color, head back to the gambling area, and find the game called Flower, Bird, Wind and Moon in the crowdfunded Shenmue 3.
This game asks players to make a bet on one of four symbols, each of which has a corresponding color – flower is red, bird is green, wind is blue, and moon is yellow. Fans should simply place the maximum bet of 1,000 tokens on the color the fortune teller predicted, and while Ryo may lose a handful of times, players that keep betting on the lucky color should eventually begin raking in tons of tokens. Just remember that the color fortune changes every few hours, so players should be sure to get it retold as needed.
Once Ryo has amassed around 20,000 tokens from Flower, Bird, Wind, and Moon, players should head to the Panda Market and purchase items, like gems, that can be resold. Fans can then take these valuables to the Pawn Shop next to the prize exchange shop and sell them for a load of yuan in the Epic Games Store exclusive Shenmue 3.
After 18 years, fans of Shenmue finally have their hands on this third entry in the series, and while there is some controversy currently surrounding Shenmue 3's Metacritic score, many players are ecstatic.
