With She-Hulk hitting Disney Plus for streaming soon, Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo is discussing the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and how Avengers: Secret Wars will forever change the MCU.

It was just unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con that the current era of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be known as the Multiverse Saga, which includes the She-Hulk series. Most of the projects within the saga have been announced, but there is definitely room for more to be added to the roster before Avengers: Secret Wars ends the Multiverse saga.

In an interview with ET on the She-Hulk green carpet, Ruffalo touched on the possibility of World War Hulk, which has been rumored for a very long time. When Ruffalo was questioned about the idea of adapting the comic book tale into a film, the Avengers star said, “Anytime they want to do it, I’m here.” He went on to discuss the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars film, teasing that it may be even more massive than the blockbuster film Avengers: Endgame. He said, “It’s gonna be hard to top Endgame. If I know Kevin and I know Marvel, it’s gonna be pretty amazing. And it’ll be a Big Bang…we’ll go out with the Big Bang.”

Back in October of 2021, a report claimed that Marvel Studios would begin to start production of a World War Hulk film in 2022, but there haven’t been any updates on this report. World War Hulk was also noticeably missing from the Phase 5 and Phase 6 lineup at San Diego Comic-Con. Still, with the Marvel Studios' D23 Expo presentation coming up soon, there is definitely a chance the film or even a Disney Plus series about the World War Hulk comic could be unveiled.

The original comic story follows the Hulk as he returns to Earth to seek revenge on other heroes who were once his friends after they exiled him to Planet Hulk. This preface would definitely need to be tweaked a bit to fit into the current state of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but other stories in the past have been slightly altered, so this could definitely happen. After all, Thor: Ragnarok loosely borrowed elements from Planet Hulk.

As the Marvel D23 Expo rapidly approaches, the chance of World War Hulk being confirmed as a project gets closer and closer. With Hulk actor Ruffalo completely on board to bring the story to life, it's fair to say that Marvel fans may be getting the adaptation in the near or distant future.

She-Hulk premieres on Disney Plus on August 18, 2022.
