She-Hulk made her debut in the MCU last year, and despite the show’s reception, comic book writer Dan Slott wants fans to know the miniseries Jennifer Walters got the most accurate transformation from Marvel Comics to Disney Plus.

Slott, who started working for Marvel in 1991, is known for penning comic book stories for many of the most popular superheroes out there, mainly She-Hulk, Spider-Man, Silver Surfer, Fantastic Four and Iron Man, as well as some very well-known work for DC. When it comes to Bruce Banner’s cousin, Slott is more famous for writing the She-Hulk by Dan Slott that in 2004 expanded the character’s personality from what John Byrne had already done, with many of his comics inspiring aspects of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

In a New Year’s post over on Twitter, Slott went through the trouble of clarifying that he believes the She-Hulk series actually did an amazing job adapting his stories “saying, for the record, it is the MOST comic book accurate show in the MCU” as a way to call out haters. While the tweet’s timing may seem a bit odd, considering She-Hulk’s finale was dropped last October, Slott expressed that people arguing against the show’s faithfulness to the source material “has been going on for MONTHS. From people who clearly have never read SHE-HULK,” a thought that surely echoes the anti-troll narrative the writers chose for large parts of the plot.

It bears saying that since She-Hulk’s inception to the world of Marvel Comics, Slott holds the record for writing the most comics for the character, meaning if there’s someone whose judgment on the matter should be trusted, it’s definitely him. Although She-Hulk’s bold ending embraced Jen’s fourth wall-breaking antics in the context of the MCU, the show did borrow her stint working at the Goodman, Lieber, Kurtzberg & Holliway firm as a main story element.

Despite suffering from review bombing to a certain extent, She-Hulk’s audience scores are some of the lowest for any Marvel Studios production, and even if Disney is quite secretive when it comes to streaming viewership, all available indicators point to She-Hulk also not matching the previous series' in terms of viewership. All in all, it’s clear showrunner Jessica Gao attempted to do something quite different from the rest of the MCU, and from Slott’s angle, she did manage to capture the spirit of the comics which is certainly the type of validation that matters.

At the moment, like every other Marvel series not titled Loki, there are no signs of She-Hulk getting another season, instead, fans' hopes of seeing Jennifer Walters again are probably hanging on Daredevil: Born Again or Captain America: New World Order.
