Upcoming Game Boy game The Shapeshifter has reached a new milestone on Kickstarter, widely surpassing the 21,000 euros mark, and will now include 2 new chapters.

GreenBoy Games is a developer that makes games for the original Game Boy and other retro consoles via a Game Boy dev kit. The developer's name comes from the iconic green 8-bit graphics seen with many classic Game Boy games. In the past, GreenBoy has released several Game Boy games already, including Lunar Journey, Micro Doctor, and, most recently, Where is my body?

The Shapeshifter's story will revolve around Elliot, a boy who is spending the weekend camping with some friends in the mountain, but he's awoken in the middle of the night by an elf asking for help. In this new Game Boy game, Elliot needs to save the elves from a wizard's spell, and to do so, the elf gives him powers that allow him to shapeshift into various animals, such as birds, bees, and snails, but can also change into objects like flowers and rocks.

Originally, the Game Boy game The Shapeshifter was only meant to have 3 chapters after the first Kickstarter goal. But the game has been quickly crowdfunded by over 400 backers by 425% of the original goal. Now, in addition to the original chapters, The Uncertain Mountain, The Calm River, and The Gold Mine, The Shapeshifter will include 2 other chapters as well: The Ice World and The Rockfall.

The Kickstarter hasn't yet been updated to reflect the information but The Shapeshifter has surpassed its next goal of 30,000 euros as well, which should give the game a numbered collector's coin alongside physical copies of the game as well as a free, high-grade packaging protection case for the cartridge.

The Shapeshifter is slated for a spring 2021 release on the original Game Boy.
