He fought the Dweller-in-Darkness and its minions, but Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star Simu Liu seems to be traumatized by the extremely popular series Squid Game. After having watched the nine-episode show, Liu took to social media to express his thoughts.

Squid Game has become the streamer’s biggest series launch ever, after reaching 111 million Netflix subscribers in its first month of release. Seems like Liu is in on the trend and has been keeping up to date with his Netflix viewings. However, one of the children’s games played in the show has not left the best impression on him.

“So I guess I'm just gonna be traumatized by marbles for the rest of my life then,” Liu wrote about the episode on Twitter. The episode in question is the sixth one, titled “Gganbu.” As part of the Squid Game episode, players are asked to split up in pairs. When two players agree to play together, they must shake on it. They all have 10 minutes to find a partner, and without any knowledge of the game, the players don’t know whether they should pair up with someone smart, strong, or manipulative.

It turns out that the game is a simple one from the players’ childhood. They’ll be playing marbles, and the first player to achieve all of their opponent’s marbles wins. The losing player dies. This was one of the most powerful episodes in this season of Squid Game, with many of the main characters being killed. A lot of fans were upset over the outcome of the episode, sharing their disappointment on social media. Liu has now joined these fans to express his trauma.

Other fans of the series can relate to his feelings, as one doesn’t expect such a heinous ending to a simple children’s game. When the series begins, 456 people are lured into playing some games for the chance to win billions of Korean won. But, the players are clueless as to what the games will be, and the consequences of losing them.

Liu’s fans, however, thought of this as the perfect opportunity to create more Squid Game memes. In response to Liu’s tweet, fans are sharing memes that consist of Liu's stock images being superimposed into scenes from Squid Game. Some of the most popular ones are of Liu participating in the “Red Light, Green Light” game from the first episode, where the large animatronic doll detects players’ movements.
