Disney’s current heavy hitter at the box office Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is highlighted as the main event for the company’s upcoming “Disney Plus Day” this November, along with more streaming content.Unlike Black Widow, Shang-Chi did get movie theater exclusivity for its release instead of the dual-platform strategy that befell Natasha Romanoff’s solo adventure, a move that’s proven to be the right call after the film recently cleared the $300 million mark in worldwide revenue. That milestone becomes more impressive as the lasting effects of the pandemic continue to affect the movie industry, on top of Marvel Studios not being able to rely on the massive Chinese market due to Shang-Chi's ban potential only growing in China.RELATED: Shang-Chi: What Are the Powers Of The Ten Rings?Nevertheless, as part of Disney Plus’ two-year anniversary, the streaming service will be adding Shang-Chi to its library on November 12, after the movie finishes collecting its earnings in cinemas. Joining Simu Liu and company will be Disney’s Jungle Cruise, Home Sweet Home Alone, new episodes of The World According to Jeff Goldblum, Marvel and Star Wars specials, plus several animated shorts featuring The Simpsons and other Disney properties.[EMBED_TWITTER]https://twitter.com/disneyplus/status/1440398189803151361?s=20[/EMBED_TWITTER]The announcement was shared on Disney Plus’ official social media channel, with company CEO Bob Chapek highlighting the effort to celebrate the streaming platform launch as possibly the first of many Disney Plus Day events. All this will coincide with Disney Plus becoming available in several parts of Asia, such as South Korea and Taiwan, on that same day, plus Hong Kong joining on November 16, though mainland China inhabitants will continue to miss out on this content. As Disney Plus continues to expand, so does its user base, although Chapek did concede that there was a slowdown in subscriber growth during this quarter. The most puzzling aspect of Shang-Chi now entering the streaming realm could certainly be how it affects Disney's current trial versus Scarlett Johansson, as the star believes she was wronged by the company due to its decision to deprive Black Widow of theatrical exclusivity, thus significantly hurting the movie’s profits and Johansson’s bonuses.Shang-Chi has done spectacularly well with viewers, as it's currently ranked as the number one MCU film according to the Rotten Tomatoes audience score, which in itself is a huge feat for a lesser-known superhero. On a larger scale, Shang-Chi heading to streaming could be signaling an experiment on Disney's behalf to phase out Marvel movies earlier than expected.Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will be available on Disney Plus starting November 12, 2021.MORE: Hawkeye: 10 Best Trick Arrows From The Comics & Source: @disneyplus|Twitter
