Red Dead Online Players Create Shaggy and Fred from Scooby-Doo

The overpowered Shaggy meme has really taken on a life of its own, with a petition to add Shaggy to Mortal Kombat 11 garnering hundreds of thousands of signatures and a response from game director Ed Boon. The Shaggy meme has started to make an appearance in other video games as well, with fans creating the popular cartoon character in Red Dead Redemption 2's Red Dead Online mode.

Reddit user dorkstork0216 posted an image of a player-created Shaggy riding on a wagon, supposedly the 1898 version of the Mystery Machine. Shaggy is joined by Fred Jones, who is generally portrayed as the leader of Mystery, Inc. in the various incarnations of Scooby-Doo that have been featured over the past five decades or so.

While some may be sick of the Shaggy meme, it is a testament to Red Dead Online's character creation tools that players were able to create characters that actually do look somewhat similar to Fred and Shaggy.

Red Dead Online got off to a rocky start, and while it doesn't appear to be nearly as popular as GTA Online, it still has a dedicated following of players. This is largely thanks to the continued support from Rockstar Games, which has gone out of its way to improve Red Dead Online by addressing bugs, the in-game economy, and other problems.

Besides fixing lingering issues with Red Dead Online, Rockstar has also added new content to the game for players to experience. This includes the Gun Rush battle royale mode, which provides a more traditional battle royale experience compared to what was originally offered in the online open world title.

As for the likelihood of Rockstar adding Shaggy and Fred to Red Dead Online or Red Dead Redemption 2 in an official capacity, the chances are next to zero. Rockstar has no affiliation with Warner Bros., and went to great lengths to make sure that its game is genuine to the Wild West. However, that doesn't stop fans who want to play Shaggy in a video game from using Red Dead Online's character creation tools to add him and the other members of Mystery, Inc. to Red Dead Redemption 2.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now for PS4 and Xbox One.
