This week, fans will finally be able to embark on Lara Croft's latest adventure in the highly anticipated Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Just like the previous entry in the long-running video game series, the latest installment will also be Xbox One X enhanced. Very recently, Microsoft and Square Enix have revealed a Shadow of the Tomb Raider Xbox One X trailer, as well as all the details surrounding the game's enhancements.

The Xbox One X enhancements for Shadow of the Tomb Raider will allow players to choose either 4K at a constant 30 FPS, or a frame rate mode of 1080p at 60 FPS. For Xbox One X owners that do not have a 4K television, they will still get general visual quality enhancements such as less aliasing and more details in the gameplay image, that are not available on the base Xbox One. The official trailer below shows some of the breathtaking enhanced footage from the upcoming game. Microsoft also explains that it has revamped the entire pipeline to be HDR from the get go, which includes realistic lights intensity calibration, HDR textures, and global illumination energy conservation. Finally, audio immersion is provided with Dolby Atmos, especially in the jungle areas that have been seen in the gameplay montage, which are dense with wildlife such as locusts below and birds above. For players that own a home theater system, this spatial audio will provide a completely immersive experience, but all players will still hear those effects due to the overall increase in audio fidelity on the Xbox One X. It is clear that these Xbox One X enhancements will create an overall improved experience of Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and a week before the title's release date may be a good time to invest in an Xbox One X if for those who do not own one already. Shadow of the Tomb Raider launches for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on September 14.
