Square Enix has announced a new Tomb Raider game at the beginning of this year, titled Shadow of the Tomb Raider. According to Square Enix, Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be the last chapter in Lara's adventure that started with the Tomb Raider reboot in 2013, and promises to be "Lara Croft’s defining moment as she becomes the Tomb Raider” that we all love and know today.

At Square Enix's E3 briefing today, the gameplay trailer for Shadow of the Tomb Raider has finally been revealed, as was indicated by Square Enix during the game reveal in April. The trailer shows Lara Croft in an exotic jungle environment, using similar combat tactics that she has been using in the last two instalments of Tomb Raider. In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, it seems like Lara will be using an additional weapon for stealth kills, which is a combat knife, while also keeping weapons that she has been using in the previous games, such as her trusty bow and arrows. The gameplay trailer also shows off how Lara uses her environment and things from her surroundings, such as an oil can and fire, in order to skilfully kill her enemies.

The Shadow of the Tomb Raider developers also teased the biggest Tomb Raider hub to date, which is a hidden city, as well as some screenshots of the deadly tombs that Lara will encounter in the game. In April, Square Enix also revealed the special editions for the game, and pre-orders for the various Shadow of the Tomb Raider editions went on sale. From the gameplay video it is clear that the game looks and feels great, and developers have promised that it is the most difficult Tomb Raider game to date. We look forward to being able to play the next chapter in Lara Croft's journey in Autumn of this year.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on September 14th of this year.
