While plenty of players are certain to still be making their way through Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice for the first time, others may already have their eyes set on subsequent playthroughs. Indeed, those that want to get all Sekiro achievements will need to complete the game more than once, and these players may be wondering what carries over to NG+.

What Carries Over to NG+

Players can expect a great deal of what they have obtained during their first time through Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice to be accessible in NG+. Specifically, all of the following carries over when starting a playthrough after the initial one:

  • Everything that you own. This does not include some key items that progress quests, expand the inventory of merchants, and make undiscovered areas accessible.
  • Attack Power, Vitality, and Posture
  • Healing Gourd charges
  • Prosthetic Tools and upgrades
  • Acquired skills. This does not include skills received when players obtain and use Mortal Blade.

Additionally, those that earn the Purification, Immortal Severance, or Return ending on their first playthrough will receive Kuro's Charm near the beginning of NG+. This item can be given to Kuro to increase the challenge, causing the Wolf to take slight damage even when blocking. This functions similarly to ringing the Demon Bell, and it is an option for those that are curious about how to make Sekiro more difficult.

Sekiro NG+ Differences

While, obviously, a lot about the game stays the same in Sekiro's NG+, there are some notable differences. Chief among these differences is a difficulty increase all the way up to NG+ 7. Not only will players find that enemies deal more damage in NG+, but the rate at which the Wolf's Posture regenerates is significantly lower.

Additionally, mini-bosses that have already been defeated in a previous playthrough will not drop Prayer Beads, instead offering other items, such as Heavy Coin Purses. A similar sort of replacement occurs with chests where Gourd Seeds, Prayer Beads, and Shinobi Tools have been previously looted.

With NG+ offering an opportunity for players to see additional endings and test their mettle against more difficult versions of Sekiro bosses, those that are really enjoying the game will undoubtedly stick around for multiple playthroughs. Fortunately for them, a lot of work from previous runs through the game will follow them as they try to beat Headless, Lady Butterfly, and more in NG+.
