Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, the latest game from Dark Souls studio From Software, is finally available. Like past From Software games, Sekiro cranks up the difficulty and tests players' limits throughout the course of the adventure, and so some may be curious as to how long the game takes to beat.

Like any From Software game, mileage will vary with how long it takes to beat Sekiro. There are currently no averages available on the game play time aggregate site How Long to Beat, but after taking a look at various publications online, the general consensus seems to be anywhere from 30 (skilled players) to 6o hours (less-skilled players), which is quite the gap. More likely than not, most players will fall in the middle of that spectrum, so they should be able to count on around it taking 45-50 hours to beat Sekiro.

One's playtime with Sekiro will largely depend on how quickly they are able to beat the game's bosses. Even the early boss fights, like the Lady Butterfly boss fight, will offer a stiff challenge and may add significant time to how long it takes to beat Sekiro. And as is to be expected, boss fights later in the game are even harder.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is hard enough on its default difficulty setting, but players can make it even harder, and therefore extend the playtime, if they'd like. To make Sekiro harder, players have to visit the Senpou Temple and ring the Demon Bell, which will make all the enemies in the game much more powerful. The benefit to this is not just to increase the difficulty level, but to gain greater rewards from killing enemies. Thankfully, it's possible to reverse the effects by using the Bell Demon item that players get after ringing the Demon Bell.

Other factors will no doubt play a role in how long it takes to beat Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, but how fast players can beat the bosses will likely play the biggest role. However, as players become more familiar with the game and its unique world and combat mechanics, they may very well be able to cut the time it takes to beat Sekiro considerably.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
