It won't be too much longer before the multi-platform action-adventure game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice officially launches, and it looks as if the developer From Software is ramping up promotion in order to get the word out. Today, the studio has put out a fresh teaser trailer that provides potential players with a glimpse of the battle to come between the title's titular hero and one of its bosses, the Great Serpent.

The clip is brief, as it only offers roughly 30 seconds worth of footage, and about half of that time is dedicated to showing off some of the environments that players will explore within Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. The Great Serpent rears its head at almost the halfway mark, and it is shown slithering throughout the valley while Sekiro bides his time in hiding spots, waiting for just the right moment to move to a new location in order to avoid becoming the giant snake's lunch.

While it's still somewhat unclear as to exactly how the fight against the Great Serpent will play out in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, it's evident that From Software will be providing an action-driven approach to the encounter. This game design methodology supports some of the studio's previous examples of how it will make Sekiro's boss battles different from Dark Souls, with the company intending to have a more action-oriented focus this time around instead of an experience rooted in role-playing.

As one might expect, the Great Serpent will be one of many boss battles within Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and From Software has hinted at others to come in past teasers. Not too long ago, in fact, the developer provided a glimpse at the fight against Lady Butterfly.

With From Software touting Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice as a departure from its Soulsborne gameplay models of the past, there's no doubt that plenty of fans of the studio are looking forward to seeing how fights against the Great Serpent and the game's other bosses will play out in the new IP. With any luck, Sekiro's approach to single-player will be able to establish itself as an iconic brand unto itself with a solid framework for From Software to deliver compelling gameplay that's rich in narrative.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is scheduled to release on March 22, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
