Throughout the world of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice there are tons of bosses and mini-bosses that players will need to learn and then defeat. Some require simple tactics, like dodges and well-timed strikes, while others are a bit more complex and require an understanding of Sekiro’s posture system. The Long-arm Centipede Giraffe mini-boss is more of a puzzle.

While making their way through the Sunken Valley and then the Gun Fort, Sekiro players will eventually encounter Long-arm Centipede Giraffe mini-boss. He is a hunched over creature/man with elongated limbs and claws on its hands. Think Voldo from the Soulcalibur fighting game series.

Once players get close to the Long-arm Centipede Giraffe mini-boss, they will see that the boss fight area is very small and the boss is very aggressive. The Long-arm Centipede Giraffe mini-boss is relentless with its attacks, swinging at the player constantly, giving them little reprieve. Thankfully there is a trick to beating the Long-arm Centipede Giraffe mini-boss.

How to Beat The Long-arm Centipede Giraffe

During this Sekiro boss fight, players will want to focus on two things, blocking the incoming flurry and then deflecting the final attack. So, the boss will swing wildly for 10 total attacks and on that tenth attack players want to make sure they time their block right as the attack lands.

If done correctly, the Long-arm Centipede Giraffe mini-boss should recoil back and prepare a lunge attack. You will know if you’ve done this correctly if the Perilous Attack Kanji (危) appears on the screen. Once the Long-arm Centipede Giraffe mini-boss lunges forward, jump and land on its head for some good posture damage.

Ideally, the player should only need to repeat this pattern once or twice during phase two before the Long-arm Centipede Giraffe mini-boss is vulnerable to a deathblow attack. Then, for phase two, repeat the process but keep a look out for an early Perilous Attack. The process is the same, just jump on its head, but the attack can sometimes happen earlier than expected.

After defeating the Long-arm Centipede Giraffe mini-boss, Sekiro players will gain a Prayer Bead for upgrading their health and they will be able to continue through the area.
