Virgos are known for their loyalty and if there is one thing Kiryu is, it is loyal. From random strangers on the street to his friends and family, Kiryu is the guy to instantly help out and give it his all. He is a dedicated family man who isn't afraid to show a softer side of his personality.
Kiryu still loves a good fight though, but he is more analytical than your average street brawler. Virgos maintain a kind heart while still exploring their own ventures.
6 Libra – Tatsuo Shinada
Another complex character in the series, Shinada is an ex-star baseball slugger down on his luck after being banned from the sport he loves. Shinada's personality is easygoing and he genuinely means well, much like Libras.
Shinada's gracious attitude has gotten him in hot water with the wrong people, but he remains hopeful even in the presence of crisis.
5 Scorpio – Goro Majima
Kiryu's friend and foe, Goro Majima, is one of the more extravagant characters in the franchise, but he is always confident in who he is. Scorpios are honest and bold in everything they do. Majima is respectful of those who respect him and prefers things to be practical when it comes to personal matters.
Majima can show genuine compassion or pure fury depending on how things go down when it comes to gang politics, but he is still a savvy businessman known for advocating diplomacy.
4 Sagittarius – Shun Akiyama
Those who fall under the Sagittarius sign are known for their open minds, energetic vibrancy, and generosity. These are all character traits of Akiyama, the friendly loan shark. While he is something of a slacker when it comes to his position, Akiyama is successful and more than happy to share his wealth with friends and the homeless.

1 Pisces – Makoto Date
Makoto Date has been a recurring character and long-time friend of Kiryu throughout a large chunk of the Yakuza series. Date is a police detective who provides a voice of reason for Kiryu at many times and sometimes acts as a partner in his ploys.
Much like the Pisces, Date is compassionate and willing to stick his neck out for friends when the heat is on.
