Microsoft’s approach to Xbox Game Pass, a subscription service that allows users to access a broad library of games, has shifted how Xbox's fundamental business model operates, turning a family of game consoles into a platform for games. Many Game Pass fans have applauded what Microsoft has achieved with the subscription, and even some major companies have been praising the service, too.

One of the companies singing praise for Xbox Game Pass is Sega. In a recent deep dive about Xbox Game Pass from Eurogamer, Anna Downing, Sega Europe's senior vice president of commercial publishing, stressed that the company is "really happy" with its results from putting games on Xbox Game Pass. Downing specifically cited Two Point Hospital as an example, stating that Game Pass had helped push the game to over 3 million players worldwide.

Of course, Two Point Hospital isn't the only Sega title featured on Game Pass. Currently, the service boasts a wide range of Sega games, with Alien: Isolation and many entries of the Yakuza series being some of the highlights. With Game Pass clearly fueling some success for Sega, it seems possible that more Sega games will make their way to the service in the future.

Xbox Game Pass has seen impressive subscriber jumps, with millions of people using the service to access new games. Apparently, those subscribers spend and play more on average too. Eurogamer's report,  states that Xbox Game Pass subscribers play 40% more games on average, across 30% more genres. There are also other factors, like increased engagement among Game Pass subscribers, that make a compelling case for companies to include their games on the service.

It makes sense that people are willing to try new games and genres on Game Pass, as removing the cost barrier means there's no real foul in a game not clicking with a player. That's great news for game developers, as they're likely to catch players new to the genre with their games from time to time, which may drive additional sales on top of the money Microsoft pays out to have the game on the service.

With Sega and many other companies praising Game Pass, it's possible more major publishers give the subscription service a shot. EA added EA Play games to Game Pass, and there are rumors that Ubisoft may do the same thing in the near future. Ultimately, that's a great thing for subscribers. Microsoft is reportedly eyeballing more acquisitions, so fans could see big new games on the service for years to come.
