While Sega hasn't shown much interest in porting older games to the PC in the past, it seems that this is about to change. After the massive success of the Persona 4 Golden port which launched this past June, the gaming company is realizing the potential of the PC and is looking to start looking into bringing popular titles to Steam and other new systems as well.

A recent study shows that nearly half of gamers play on the PC, and that means that it is a huge market for the gaming industry. With the recent popularity of Persona 4 Golden selling over 500,000 copies on Steam after being available for only a month, it seems that Sega has realized this potential and will start working to release more games in this more accessible way.

During a discussion with investors that was released on August 19, Sega called special attention to the success of Persona 4 Golden. In this Q&A time, Sega said that the game did much higher than it expected. Going forward, Sega says that it will keep in mind PC versions for future games as well as ones that have been previously released, stating that it "intends to aggressively promote the porting of previously launched titles to Steam and other new platforms." This means that other games that have previously been exclusive to systems like PlayStation may be brought to Steam.

This news has many gamers excited about potential games brought to the PC this way. When Persona 4 Golden was released on Steam, this sparked hope in many fans of the Persona franchise for other ports to the computer, especially Persona 3 FES. Going forward, it also seems that Sega games will be considering how to implement PC versions of gaming while there are being created. While its still not certain what games will be ported, the language Sega representatives uses means that fans can likely expect many PC ports of older games from the company to come out in the future.

Persona 4 Golden's success shows off the potential of PC ports, and Sega is taking advantage of this going forward. While this decision isn't limited to the Persona franchise, many are excited that the game was able to pave the way for more Sega games to be accessible to more players.
