Several console manufacturers have reintroduced their classic hardware to a new generation of players with the release of their respective mini consoles that are working replicas of the originals. Among the many mini consoles available right now are Nintendo's best-selling NES Classic and Sony's PlayStation Classic, as well as the SEGA Genesis Mini being a must-have for those looking for a nostalgic experience.

The good news is that Best Buy is currently offering the SEGA Genesis Mini at a discount right now. The miniature console is priced at $39.99, which is 50% off its original price of $79.99. To those unfamiliar, the SEGA Genesis Mini is a miniature re-release of the 1989 classic console but with modern features to ensure a plug and play experience. The console comes pre-loaded with 42 iconic games, 2 wired control pads, and an HDMI output that makes it compatible with modern TVs. Some notable video games included with the SEGA Genesis Mini are Sonic the Hedgehog, Castle of Illusion, Beyond Oasis, Mega Man, and many more.

It is currently unclear how long Best Buy's deal on the SEGA Genesis Mini will last. However, other retailers are also offering the same price for the classic console so it appears that the discount could be a permanent price reduction. Nonetheless, players who are looking for a nostalgic experience should grab the SEGA Genesis Mini while discounts and stock are still available.

During the initial release of the SEGA Genesis Mini, Sega decided to advertise the console by recreating one of their famous commercials thirty years ago. Similar to the original, the commercial retained a cheesy vibe while introducing a new version of the earworm song that adds a "30th Anniversary" lyric. Unfortunately, the new promo removed the popular "What Nintendon't" part of the slogan for the new advertisement, but overall the commercial is pretty much faithful to the original.

Given the massive library of games that the SEGA Genesis had during its heyday, it was surely a difficult process for Sega to choose the 42 games that would be included in the lineup of the re-released version. Of course, while the SEGA Genesis Classic did have a solid lineup of games, there were a few hits and misses, which is why it is not uncommon for some players to rank all 42 games on the SEGA Genesis Mini.
