Since the integration between Call of Duty: Warzone and Black Ops Cold War, issues with cheating and hacking have seemingly been on the rise. In fact, this problem has gotten so big that many influential players have even begun to threaten to leave the popular free to play game. The recent outcry and frustrations gaining public attention have also reached Activision and Raven Software who took action be directly addressing the cheating problem and offering insight into what sort of steps are being taken.
While many agree that Call of Duty: Warzone makes it far too easy to cheat, Activision reiterated its anti-cheat stance and confirmed that the company is increasing efforts to enforcing these policies. In addition to weekly security meetings, the game's detection technology is getting an upgrade, additional resources are being spent on monitoring, and new ban waves are rolling out periodically to remove those flagged as hackers. In fact, the first ban wave arrived last week, eliminating over 60,000 accounts.
Following the first wave of bans, many in the community immediately felt the impact, agreeing that the issue has seemingly lessened. However, the cheater problem isn't yet fully resolved as Raven Software just announced a second ban wave has gone out one week after the first. As of now, Raven has not indicated how impactful this latest cleanup effort was, though the Tweet has been met with plenty of praise from the community.
Some, including popular steamer StoneMountain64 followed up by asking for daily ban waves, indicating that most just simply create new accounts since Warzone is free to play. Either way, this doesn't appear to be the final push for dealing with hackers. Raven teases that there's more to come in its effort to keep Call of Duty: Warzone clean, a step that most in the community will be in favor of after all of the hardships over the past few months.
While the increased effort to attempt to reduce the game's problematic cheating and hacking problem will no doubt be appreciated by players, Call of DUty: Warzone also suffers from a large amount of bugs and critical issues. Recent reports have run the gamut of issues stemming from players unable to switch their chosen operator, broken Easter eggs inside the Stadium, and more. In fact, the recently added Armored Warfare game mode had to be removed due to the return of the invisibility bug, completely ruining matches. There's a lot of work left to be done, but Raven and Activision appear to be taking steps in the right direction at least.
