The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Sebastian Stan is already a busy man in the year 2022, set to star in the upcoming action film The 355 alongside some of Hollywood's most notorious women. During the press tour for The 355, Stan couldn't escape questions about his character Bucky Barnes, and he revealed that even he doesn't know when he'll be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Stan's uncertainty about his fate in the MCU after The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has not stalled his progress. In addition to The 355, Stan is set to appear in Hulu's Pam and Tommy series alongside Lily James, which will premiere this February. He will also star in Fresh with Daisy Edgar-Jones and Sharper with Julianne Moore.

During an interview with ComicBook.com, Stan was asked about the next appearance of Bucky within the MCU. Unfortunately, Stan wasn't able to provide much of an answer of when he'll be back in a future MCU project. "I don't, I really don't," Stan said. "I haven't known that for ten plus years. I always am very happy when I get to live another day, hopefully before I get too old." Stan made his MCU debut as Bucky back in 2011's Captain America. Since then, he has appeared in eight other Marvel Studios projects as the Winter Solider, including The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Stan also lent his voice to two episodes of the animated series What If...? as Bucky Barnes.

During his interview, Stan was also asked about his favorite Marvel moments of 2021. He admitted that he really enjoyed WandaVision, which was released prior to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Stan admitted that he enjoyed the new side of Wanda and Vision that was shown in the series. He also cited Black Widow as one of his favorites in the year 2021, saying that "Black Widow obviously is always going to have a soft spot in my heart." Stan admitted that he has yet to see Eternals and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Stan jokingly remarked, "I still need to catch up."

Stan did attempt to give Marvel fans an optimistic outlook by suggesting, "We'll see, anything is possible." Bucky was last seen in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which premiered in March of 2021. Stan was joined by Anthony Mackie, who became Captain America by the time the series concluded. With Captain America 4 already in the works, it would seem plausible that Stan will appear alongside Mackie once again to reprise his role. Bucky also has a history with Wakanda, which was highlighted in the Disney Plus series, meaning Bucky may also appear in the upcoming Black Panther sequel, Wakanda Forever.

While Stan says he does not know when Bucky will return to the MCU, he could be keeping one of Marvel Studios' coveted secrets. It wouldn't be the first time a Marvel star has been secretive about their future, as many stars of Spider-Man: No Way Home spoke out against their involvement with the film despite appearing in it. Whether he knows what Bucky's future holds or not, Stan likely won't be the last to keep a Marvel secret. Until Bucky reappears, Stan can be viewed in his countless other projects that will premiere this year.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is now available on Disney Plus.
