Rare continues to produce monthly content drops for Sea of Thieves and June 2020's is yet another example of the studio's continued dedication to the pirate game. Wednesday saw the release of Sea of Thieves' Haunted Shores update, which includes the new Ghost Ships world event, as well as improvements to the shanty system, quality of life changes, and new items in both the Black Market and Pirate Emporium.

The Ghost Ship world event starts with Captain Flameheart's firey grimace appearing in the sky. Then, all around him quick, powerful ghost ships will spawn. It'll be up to players to destroy these ships, spawning Captain Flameheart's own flagship to battle. Winning rewards all manner of treasure, as well as the opportunity to earn the Burning Blade sails and the Ghost Captain Sails.

In terms of improvements, Sea of Thieves now features a radial dial so players can pick the shanty they want to play. It's filled with all of players' old favorites, as well as some new classics. The Emissary Ledger also has improvements, as does the non-verbal communications radial for the shy pirates on the Sea of Thieves.

Lastly, the Haunted Shores update brings with it plenty of new loot to buy. There are several new emotes, including a free one, the full Blighted Set of ship livery, and animal costumes. The Ghost outfits for pets are exclusive to Athena 20 Pirate Legends though, so it's that much more exclusive. The Treasure Curse Collectors are much cuter overall, though, objectively.

Expect another big Sea of Thieves update next month and enjoy the new Haunted Shores content in the meantime.

Sea of Thieves is available now on PC and Xbox One.
