As pirates in Sea of Thieves, players are always looking for the best loot they can get their hands on. Some of the most sought-after treasures in the world are Reaper's Bones Treasures. There are two Reaper's Boxes that players can find while sailing the seas: A Reaper's Bounty and A Reaper's Chest

Both of these boxes are valuable as they both provide a nice reward financially and also do wonders for the player's status with the Reaper's Bones Emissary. While the Reaper's Bounty is good for people who enjoy earning Gold, the Reaper's Chest is a great item to find for Doubloons.

How To Find A Reaper's Chest

A Reaper's Chest in Sea of Thieves

When on the lookout for the Reaper's Chest, players must keep their eyes out on the horizon. A chest that spawns and is untouched can be spotted emitting red and green swirling lights in the sky. Another way to track the Reaper's Chest location is to find a red and black skull pin on the Map Tables.

This will be the only way to track the chest once it is touched by another player, so it may be the most reliable way to keep an eye on the loot. It's worth noting that because of the chest's high visibility and value, it makes the chest a magnet for many players on a server. If players rather stay low, it may be better off avoiding the chest altogether.

In terms of the specific locations that a chest could spawn, there are three potential locations where it could be found. The most likely spot is in a shipwreck, where one or more will spawn floating in the ship's hold. There could be up to two Reaper's Chests in a Fort of the Damned Raid Vault if players can successfully complete it. Finally, there are some time-limited Mercenary Voyages that may reward a Reaper's Chest.

What To Do With A Reaper's Chest

There is not much to do with the Reaper's Chest beyond selling it, but that's not a bad thing either. Players should immediately sail their way to The Reaper's Hideout, a collection of reefs located in the I-12 or J-12 coordinates. Once there, players will need to locate the Servant of the Flame. They are not hard to miss as they are a tall pirate with a golden mask who is wearing a brown, red, and gold pirate outfit. Beyond trading the chest, this individual can also sell players the Reaper's Bones Emissary Flag, the Reaper's Bones Outfit, Reaper's Bones Promotions, and Reaper's Bones ship cosmetics.

Upon handing the chest in with no emissary, players will get 25 Doubloons. However, the reward payout increases if the player joins the emissary and they increase their emissary grade. This includes more Doubloons but also an increase in overall Emissary Value. The rewards are as follows:

  • Emissary Grade I: 25 Doubloons and 10,800 Emissary Value.
  • Emissary Grade II: 33 Doubloons and 14,364 Emissary Value.
  • Emissary Grade III: 41 Doubloons and 18,036 Emissary Value.
  • Emissary Grade IV: 50 Doubloons and 21,600 Emissary Value.
  • Emissary Grade V: 62 Doubloons and 27,000 Emissary Value.
