Ever since Microsoft and Rare's swashbuckling pirate game Sea of Thieves was released in 2018, it has seen some massive success. While it had a rocky launch, it has grown into a title with a solid and dedicated fanbase. With the game celebrating its third anniversary this year, the developers have been providing fans with tons of new additions to Sea of Thieves. This includes Pirates of the Caribbean and Borderlands-themed crossover content that were released this year, with even an extensive quest that players can embark on that stars iconic characters like Jack Sparrow and Captain Barbossa.

The developers have also been providing plenty of new content to the game, evidenced by Sea of Thieves' Season 5 content. This includes players being able to bury their own treasure, signal flares, and adding more cosmetics related to its full-on crossover with Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. With the developers giving the game a lot of love, it shows how much the players have supported the game. This is especially prominent since the game has crossed an impressive sales milestone on the Steam platform.

In a blog post on the game's Steam page, the developers have announced that not only has Sea of Thieves reached a huge player milestone this year, it has also sold over 5 million copies on PC. To celebrate this momentous occasion, the developers are providing a special gift known as the "All Together Now!" Emote, for free. The developers noted in the same post that the emote would be perfect for players carolling in the game.

This gift will only available for a limited time, where players will only need to play the game before December 29, and they'll receive the emote. The developers noted that players who haven't bought Sea of Thieves yet will be able to get it at a discounted price thanks to the Steam Winter Sale, as it is on sale for 50% off.

Rare has been seeing massive sales and player success with Sea of Thieves, especially since the game shifted to Seasonal Content plans at the start of the year. The seasonal content has been rolling out at a consistent rate throughout 2021, with each one helping to bolster the game's popularity and keeping it one of the most popular open-world games of this year.

Sea of Thieves is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
