The time to find treasure is now for Sea of Thieves players, as the update A Pirate's Life finally dropped yesterday. The coolest part of the update, minus a cameo by Captain Jack Sparrow himself, is the epic variety of content that was added. In addition to new monsters and locations, Sea of Thieves players are also given a series of commendations to complete, most of which are tied to the five Tall Tales.

A lot of these revolve around a secret questline in which players are tasked with helping out Poor Dougie. Completing the entire thing definitely sounds like a slog, although it's kinda worth it. Finding Poor Dougie's key grants players the Treasure for the Dead commendation. Not to mention, Sea of Thieves players have a special reward waiting for them once all of the Tall Tales are done.

How To Get Poor Dougie's Key in Sea of Thieves

Upon finding Poor Dougie in Sailor's Grave, Sea of Thieves players will probably notice that Poor Dougie has the key around his neck. However, getting the key won't be that easy. After restoring the aged pirate to life, he'll instruct players about a chest that was stolen from him. Players will need to find Poor Dougie's treasure in order to get Poor Dougie's Key. Thankfully, it only requires a bit more exploration.

To make things simple, players will want to head back to the split shipwreck. On the side of the ship that leads to the broken hull and cave, Sea of Thieves fans should take the wooden path leading to a door. Opening this door reveals a skeleton wearing pajamas on a bed and a flight of stairs. There's a pulley inside here that'll reveal a skeleton with a magnifying glass, and heading up the stairs from here leads players to three lanterns that need to be lit up.

Lighting the lanterns allows players to move the skeleton's arm with the magnifying glass, which reveals where Poor Dougie's treasure is hidden. For simplicity's sake, the treasure is located near the entrance of the shipwrecked tavern. Once players bring the chest to Poor Dougie, he'll hand over the key to open it. Inside of the chest is Poor Dougie's Medallion, but players won't need to worry about what to use it for until after finding Captain Bones' Special Recipe.

Sea of Thieves: A Pirate's Life is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
