In Sea of Thieves, there are a total of 6 underwater Shrines and 3 Treasuries to discover in vault-style, treasure-hunting explorations, each with puzzles to decipher or challenges to beat. The Shrine of The Coral Tomb is situated on the northwest side of the Sea of Thieves map, deep within the watery depths of The Shores of Plenty. Although Shrines and Treasuries were first introduced in Season 4 of Sea Of Thieves, they can provide a different kind of challenge for players compared to the bigger hauls of Gold Hoarder vault voyages, or the quick-loot Sea Forts of Season 6.

To reach the treasure in the Shrine Of The Coral Tomb, players are loosely tasked with solving the siren runes puzzle and there are also five journals to discover to achieve the 'Read the Mysteries of the Shrine of the Coral Tomb' deed. After successfully entering the tomb, the puzzle is divided into three phases.

Entering The Shrine Of The Coral Tomb

Map Location. Entrance, And Inside The Shrine Of The Coral Tomb In Sea Of Thieves

After locating and sailing to the Shrine at point H5 on the map, players will need to dive deep into the depths of the swirling, multicolor light and swim to the bottom, where they will see the tomb entrance between two oxygen-emitting corals. To open the bubble-protected entrance, players must shoot the flashing rose-shaped object at the top of the door.

Once inside, players need to go down the slide which launches them into the central watery pit. Players will notice there are two giant mermaid statues, each with a red gem encrusted into their chests. To the left of one of the statues on the wall, there are three symbols depicted: an elaborate V-shaped symbol, a coral-shaped symbol, and a chain-shaped symbol. Players are left to figure out what to do next, but the main goal is to find the levers with the matching symbols and pull them in the order they appear on the wall image to progress through each phase and reach the treasure.

Phase 1

The first lever to pull with the V-shaped symbol is located underwater at the very bottom, just behind the ammo chest where players can also spot and read the first journal. The next lever with the coral symbol is well hidden on the wall at the top of the first set of stairs by the large pillar, camouflaged amongst the rest of the shiny blue coral. Players need to pull this lever before heading back up to the surface and pull the chain lever which is located on the walled area surrounded by blue coral.

The red gems in both of the giant mermaid statues will now glow bright red and a fanfare sound plays, causing the water level to rise slightly and the first wave of Sirens to attack. The Sirens are best defeated with the blunderbuss from a safe distance to avoid their high damage swiping attacks. Barrels containing fruit plus an ammo crate and weapons chest are located at the bottom of the water to replenish health or change weapons. Once players have defeated all Sirens, it's time for the next phase.

Phase 2

At surface level, a small orange, coral-covered tunnel is now accessible next to the treasure-storage mermaid statue, in between the two chain-lever areas. Players need to pull the next V-shaped symbol lever inside, before heading underwater back towards the large staircase where a new cave covered in orange and yellow coral is now open with the next coral-shaped symbol lever inside. Again, players must pull this before swimming up to the water's surface and pulling the next chain-symbol lever, this time in the walled area surrounded by yellow coral.

This time the gem-encrusted chests of both mermaid statues glow red, opening up two new underwater zones and causing the water level to rise again and the second wave of Sirens to attack. They can be ignored, but it's best to defeat them before moving on to the final phase.

Phase 3

Final Phase Lever Symbol Locations And The Treasure Vault Area Unlocked In The Shrine Of The Coral Tomb In Sea Of Thieves

Players need to pull the V-shaped and coral-shaped levers in the two newly opened underwater tunnels. The first, V-shaped symbol is located in a small tunnel opening close to the stairs surrounded by pink-colored coral. Once pulled, players can swim down to the second, larger tunnel which is next to the ammo crate at the bottom of the pit, not far from where the very first symbol and journal are found. The third journal is positioned at the right of the tunnel entrance, and players need to swim to the very back of the tunnel to pull and activate the coral symbol lever. As ever, the final lever with the chain-shaped symbol is at the top of the water's surface, but this time in the pink coral walled area. Once pulled, the siren fanfare returns as bright red light emits from the hands, chests, and eyes of both giant siren statues, causing the water level to rise significantly and allowing the player to reach the wooden walkway leading to the main treasure area and next journal.

Sirens will appear to defend their loot, but players can pick up and use the handy mermaid staff found next to the treasure and shoot them if they wish to. Players can use the storage mermaid statue to store up to twenty items to be transported back to the ship. There is now another accessible green tunnel at the water's surface level where players will find more treasures plus the final journal. There is also a platform accessible via a wooden ladder which can be easily missed and hides more treasure at the top. If any treasure is missed at the very bottom of the pit, players can dive for this and store it in any free slots at the mermaid statue also located there.

Once finished, players can use one of the statues to return to their ship, not forgetting to approach the mermaid carrying their backpack of treasure to release it. As ever, the easiest way to get treasure onto the ship is with the harpoon, so players can reposition the ship as needed and simply fish the treasure out of the water for a speedy loot grab before cashing it in at the nearest Outpost.
