Sea of Thieves: A Pirate's Life finally arrived yesterday, thrusting players into a bombastic crossover between Sea of Thieves and Pirates of the Caribbean. Pirates, new and old, have many tasks and tall tales to solve in A Pirate's Life, although the good thing is that Jack Sparrow serves as a great crewmate and ally in exploring the dangerous seas.

One of the tasks players are given is to find all of the Headless Monkey Captain journals. Simply put, players have to put in a lot of work before accessing the location where all of them are located. A lot of it revolves around helping out Poor Dougie and finding Captain Bones' Special Recipe. Thankfully, it knocks out a ton of commendations on the way. Once players open up that bridge in Sailor's Grave leading to the Headless Monkey shipwreck, they can use this guide for the locations of all five Headless Monkey Captain journals.

All Headless Monkey Captain Journals in Sea of Thieves

  • Headless Monkey Journal 1 - 'Somewhere in the Caribbean' - Upon boarding the Headless Monkey shipwreck, Sea of Thieves players can find this first journal by the wheel, lying next to a skeleton. The skeleton has the ship's cabin key, so it's worth grabbing while here.
  • Headless Monkey Journal 2 - 'Raising the Mad Monkey' - This journal is right behind the first one, tucked against the mast.
  • Headless Monkey Journal 3 - 'A Headless Monkey' - There's a chance that eagle-eyed Sea of Thieves fans might have seen this when first boarding. If not, this journal is positioned right next to a lit lantern, both of which lay under a broken mast in the middle of the wreck.
  • Headless Monkey Journal 4 - 'A Fateful Pursuit' - These last two require that cabin key from earlier, so keep that on hand. The cabin doorway is on the far side of the ship, and on a table inside, the journal is between a map and a lantern.
  • Headless Monkey Journal 5 - 'Fresh Waters' - This last journal is only meters away from the previous one, sitting on a nearby bookshelf.

As said before, there's a lot of work that comes before players even get access to the shipwreck. However, in addition to all the commendations, there's a pretty special reward for Sea of Thieves players who complete every tall tale. There aren't any spoilers here for that, although it's definitely been among the most requested features for those that are curious.

Sea of Thieves: A Pirate's Life is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
