If there's one way to describe Sea of Thieves, it's that it's an exploration game at its core. Crews of players around the world have enjoyed sailing around the open sea for years now, discovering treasure and other unique elements along the way. One of these elements is beacons, fire pits that can be lit with a lantern.

There are a total of 12 beacons in Sea of Thieves, three for each region. One of these regions is The Ancient Isles. Located in the southern area of the main map, these islands are very bright and full of life but also have many secrets hiding deep within them. Luckily, most of the beacons in this area are out in the open.

3 Crook's Hollow

The first place to sail to is Crook's Hollow, located at the coordinate of M-16. The island is distinguishable for the sloping profile the island as a whole has. The lowest points on the island are heading north while the highest points are on the south. If crewmates want to do some exploring, there is a waterfall on the right side of the island that gives access to the island's caves.

For this beacon, players want to head on foot up the island slope. If they keep on heading up, the beacon will be located on the highest point at the southern-most portion of the island. To light the torch, hold the lantern up to the unlit beacon and it should go on fire soon after.

2 Devil's Ridge

Set sail from Crook's Hollow to the southeast. Head towards the coordinate of P-19 where players will find the Devil's Ridge. This is a large island that has a large rock formation near its center and has a large cave system that may be worth exploring further. Despite all the potential spots for a beacon, there is only one on this island.

To find the torch, look for the island's waterfall. It is hard to miss as it is very tall and it is pouring into a small pond in the middle of the island. Spotting this will help players locate the beacon as it is directly above the waterfall on the cliff. All players will need to do is make the climb all the way up there to ignite it.

1 Plunder Valley

Head back all the way to the eastern side of the Ancient Isles. At coordinate G-16, sailors should be able to find Plunder Valley. It is hard to miss this landmass as the island is one giant mountain that has plenty of pathways to walk around its spiral-like structure. There is a lot that happens on this island, from tall tales to the Trapmaker's puzzle.

However, if players want to find the beacon, they will need to make their way up to the very top of this large mountain. The highest tip is easy to see from the ground but players should just keep heading upwards until they spot the lantern sitting there. After it's lit, it is a very nice sight from the waters below, which makes the trek a little rewarding.

Sea of Thieves was released on March 20, 2018, and is available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
