Scream 5 has got a new poster that shows Ghostface ready to go on another murder spree. The poster also reminds fans about one of the rules regarding the identity of Ghostface.

The Scream 5 poster focuses on the Ghostface mask and shows the iconic horror killer brandishing a knife. The poster was released just shortly before the first Scream 5 trailer premiered. The fifth film will be a continuation of the franchise despite sharing the same name as the original installment. The Scream films involve the iconic villain Ghostface, who is known for stalking his prey through technology as he picks them off one by one with a kitchen knife. Some of the films can be viewed through a comedic lens by fans of dark humor despite there being murders, partly because the franchise addresses common horror tropes.

Scream 5 looks to bring the iconic horror franchise back to theaters, and it will involve many returning characters as well as plot points from the previous films. Courteney Cox, for example, is slated to return for the upcoming film after being a veteran character of the franchise for many years. Fans were told previously that Scream will only survive on television through the MTV series of the same name. Now it looks like the creators have gone back on their word to bring the Ghostface killer back to the big screen. The tagline for the Scream 5 poster says, "It's always someone you know," which has always been the case when it comes to the identity of Ghostface in each film.

It's good to see that the creators are bringing the world of Scream back to the theaters again, as this is where it started and almost feels like where it belongs. The films did a good job at getting solid crowd reactions, but the television show wasn't able to do everything the movies did. The show made it more grounded, contemporary, and more drama-filled. It was a nice change for some, but it's good to see the movie going back to basics.

Rewatching the original Scream film today makes the situations, conflict, and villain appear less dangerous than they did back during its release. A lot of survival techniques or tactics that are commonly known now weren't public knowledge back then, specifically with the phone calls that the killer uses to stalk people.

Scream hasn't been getting much coverage in recent months, so hopefully, fan talk picks up more as the promotion increases. A past Scream 5 behind-the-scenes photo appears to have been taken down, so fans can expect Paramount to be secretive when it comes to Ghostface's return.

Scream 5 will be in theaters on January 14th, 2022
