Players can choose many beloved characters to control in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game, from the titular character to the misanthropic Kim Pine. But the options aren't limited to the five available from the get-go, and getting Knives Chau, Scott's high-school aged ex-girlfriend, is an easy affair - especially for PC players.

Unlocking Knives

All that unlocking Knives requires is linking the game to an existing Ubisoft account. Since Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is only available through Ubisoft's store on the PC, Knives is unlocked immediately after loading the game. The process is only slightly more complicated for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One players.

For console players, on the Main Menu, there will be a Ubisoft Connect option. Selecting this will bring up a prompt to either log into an existing account or create a new one. Select whichever option applies, and players will be brought to the UPlay store. Simply exit out of that screen, return to the game, and Knives will be unlocked. There are no other ways to unlock Knives.

How She Plays

Everything that comes with the Complete Edition of Scott Pilgrim

In the original release of the game, Knives was simply utilized as a support character, with different uses for each of the other members of the cast. This is still a mechanic in the current iteration. Players can spend Gut Points to summon her as a striker.

  • Scott: Knives appear and blows a "LOVE" cloud that temporarily stuns enemies.
  • Ramona: Knives appears in a barista's uniform and gives Ramona a cup of coffee, which restores health and applies the Hyper buff, increasing player movement and attack speed.
  • Stephen: Knives throws large knives at enemies.
  • Kim: Knives appears and gives Kim a kiss, which restores health and stuns all nearby enemies of the organic variety.
  • Wallace: Same assist as Scott.
  • Nega Scott: Nega Scott, another unlockable character, can summon a dark version of Knives that will attack enemies with a sword.

As a playable character, Knives fields an arsenal of powerful, quick-hitting close-range attacks. She can perform a spin kick similar to Scott's crowd-clearing maneuver. She also has the ability to throw explosive knives that deal large amounts of damage. Players can summon Knives' mom, Mrs. Chau, as a striker. Mrs. Chau assails enemies with a string of profanities in Chinese, causing an enemy to flee from the arena.

To cap off the Chau family's appearance in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Knives' father, Mr. Chau, is a hidden boss that spawns randomly on the world map. Like Knives, Mr. Chau's attacks are oriented around speed, using a sword as his primary weapon. Beating Mr. Chau can unlock Mrs. Chau as a random striker for any of the game's characters.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game is available for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
