Over the last decade, the video game adaptation of Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World has achieved legendary status among many in the gaming community. After being delisted from the Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Store back in December of 2014, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World The Game gained a cult following of players requesting that the game be reinstated on digital stores. Now that the game is less than a week from releasing, a limited physical edition of the game is set to launch soon.
Ever since it was first announced that Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World The Game was finally coming back, countless members of the gaming community reveled in jubilation. There was never an official reason given by Ubisoft or anyone involved in terms of why the game got delisted, so the fact that the game is finally making a return is great news for a lot of people. Although, for those really looking to celebrate, a limited physical edition of the game is being released by Limited Run Games.
Limited Run announced via Twitter that the company will be releasing special physical versions of Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World The Game for a limited time. Although, as of right now the pre-orders for the special editions only include the PS4 and Nintendo Switch, but the pre-orders for Xbox One are reportedly on their way as well.
These physical editions include a ton of additional goodies, such as trading cards, concept art, a special case, customized drumsticks, a sticker set, a CD containing all of the tracks from Anamanaguchi, and much more. All of this will be available to pre-order one day after the release of the game on digital retailers like the Nintendo E-Shop, Xbox Live Arcade, and the PlayStation Store.
This is quite a lot of content being offered, but then again, for Scott Pilgrim fans, this is a great time to celebrate. The creator of Scott Pilgrim, Bryan Lee O'Malley, had been trying to get the game back on digital stores for several years now. Out of everyone, he certainly must be the happiest that the game is finally making a return and that a lot of people will be able to experience the game for the first time.
In any case, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Scott Pilgrim. Even after releasing several years ago, the series remains an influential piece of nerd culture that has managed to maintain its popularity even now with the return of the video game adaptation. Perhaps one day fans will see an animated Netflix original series based on the graphic novel.
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game will be available for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One on January 14th, 2021.
