Scorn isn't a long game, perhaps because of its disturbing nature. The first Act might make players' stomachs turn since it starts off by forcing the main character to torture a strange creature that hasn't even done anything wrong to the character. It really makes one think if there is supposed to be some underlining moral question behind this scene.

However unfortunate, it is a necessary part of the game as it is impossible to progress in Scorn without harming the poor thing. After doing this, a door will open which will initiate Act 1-2 which is what this guide will focus on - how to complete Act 1-2 in Scorn.

Act 1-2

placing hand in terminal to open door

After placing the creature's hand in the left terminal (with the creature attached to it or not) and the character's hand in the right terminal, the main door in the spiral room will open which allows players to pass through and enter the second part of Act 1. It's slightly more confusing and can be harder to keep up with since there's a lot of going back and forth and repeating the same steps during different situations, so it's important to read carefully and attentively.

At the end of the first part, the game will in fact save and that is what divides this first Act into two parts, there is no other instance in which the game saves during an act - it will normally only do this once an act has come to an end.

Players can go through the door which will lead them to a circular room, the main room of part two. Players will then have to turn left, and go through the first entrance they see. Here is a large room, they will be standing on a platform with a fence. They will have to walk forward, take a step down and go down the corridor ignoring the odd structures all around the place.

Eventually, after walking for a bit, they'll come up to a strange tree with a terminal in front of it. They should insert the character's hand into the terminal which will activate a flying piece of machinery on the right side of the tree. Next, they'll need to move it to the center and press the 'use' button so that it can connect with the object underneath it. The object will insert itself into the flying machine. Players will have to move them slightly to the right and press 'use' once more. The machines will place themselves in the tree and another terminal will rise from the ground near the tree. It's necessary to interact with this terminal and then go back to the main room through the same entrance that they came in.

On the left, further down the path in the circular room, there's a railroad that goes around a strange capsule. If the character approaches it, it'll come out of the ground in a slow spinning motion. Interacting with it will make the character pick up a weapon. Players then have to turn around and return to the room they were in before.

There is a lot of going back and forth in Act I-II, it's quite confusing and gamers can easily get lost. It is perfectly normal to constantly return to the same rooms in Scorn, especially in this part of the game since it's such a small map. This type of gameplay is very common in the game, not all players will become fans of it, however, perhaps it is an important feature that truly adds more to the story behind it.

connecting weapon to terminal

This time, once in the room, the player won't want to step down right away. The weapon has to connect to the terminal on the platform. This activates something in the room that causes a structure that looks like a giant sledgehammer to start moving up and down and the wall opens up a compartment that allows firefly-like machines to fly out of it. A claw will also reach out, grab another flying piece of machinery (just like the one the player controlled earlier on) and take it toward the tree.

using weapon in combat

While making their way toward the tree, players will have to make use of the weapon they've just obtained. Aim and shoot at the firefly machines whenever close to them, otherwise, they will use a toxic spray that considerably damages the character.

Once players have successfully gotten to the tree, they'll have to do pretty much the same as before. Connect to the terminal, dock the machines together, place them in the tree, activate the other terminal. Afterward a similar animation will play, and the shutter-like walls will open up in other sections.

Now it's time to return to the terminal on the platform and insert the weapon into it one more time. This will cause the same thing to happen on the righthand wall, firefly machines will pop out, the giant sledgehammer will move up and down and the flying machinery will make its way to the tree. Players will have to repeat the process once again. More fireflies will be going around the room while leaking their toxic gas, so it's important to be careful here and match the character movement with theirs. It's crucial to understand the layout of the various rooms and floors that the character stumbles upon in Scorn, it's a non-linear map, so it's the little details in each section that might just help gamers figure out where they should be headed next. This helpful article will guide players in their journey through the world of Scorn.

Players will have to repeat the process after they've gotten to the tree but this time, when the third flying machine is placed in the tree, the entire thing starts collapsing and gushing out a disgusting goo. The character faints momentarily and then comes back around only to get covered in goo and faint once again.

As the character faints for the second time, the second part of the first Act comes to an end. The game autosave here as Act 2 starts playing. It is possible to load the game at any point and return to either part of Act 1.

Scorn is available now for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
