The gaming community had to deal with a slow year in 2020. Many of the most-played games last year were released before 2019. The battle royale scene began to get stale at the end of 2020, because nearly all of the popular titles were more than a year old. Scavengers gives players that enjoy PvP, PvE, and survival a completely new, refreshing experience.

Midwinter Entertainment wanted to provide a different take on the sandbox style shooter by incorporating looter shooter PvE, as well as class focused PvP. Thankfully, the new title is free to play, making it accessible for anyone with a PC. This list will cover ten things people should know about Scavengers before playing the game for the first time.

10 It Incorporates Multiple Genres

What sets apart Scavengers from other games with a similar premise is the multi-faceted gameplay. Both cold and hunger will kill players that do not monitor their character. Elements of PvE appear when gamers are completing objectives and fighting a number of AI factions.

At the same time, competitive PvP is always an option while roaming the map. The game provides a number of different ways to play, catering to a variety of users and providing an overall unique experience.

9 Classes And Abilities

Scavengers PVP

There are a total of seven different classes in Scavengers. Each will have one unique ability, as well as a class weapon.

The class weapon will define what the ideal weapon type is for that class. For example, Jae is a Maverick, meaning that the character excels with a melee weapon. Additionally, Jae's ability is an Overshield. The shield allows him to get closer to enemies and use his devastating weapon strikes.

8 Spawning In

Scavengers Cold

Unlike many popular survival games, there is no flying or parachuting in. Instead, players will wake up at a random location on the map. There will be some loot in the vicinity, so people will immediately want to look around.

The first order of business it to find a weapon and some consumables. Every character will need food to stave off hunger, and a weapon for protection against the many enemies on the map.

7 Using The Map And Objectives

Scavengers Classes

Scavengers provides several key indicators on the map. These are all areas players will want to be aware of when traversing the landscape. For example, there are are indicators for Boss Targets, which drop various loot items.

The key will also show a few of the tactical stashes on the map. Tactical stashes will attract a lot of the teams still alive on the map, and they are a great place to engage in PvP.

6 Data Points

Scavengers Data Points

The most important item in Scavengers is the Data Point. Completing objectives, defeating bosses, and finding loot stashes will reward teams with Data Points. At the end of the match, the team that can extract the most Data Points will be the victor.

Scavengers will offer experience and other rewards for kills and PvP, but that is not the main focus of the game. Teams will want to spawn in, survive, and collect the most Data Points in the lobby.

5 Leveling Up And Crafting Items

Scavengers PvE

Playing the PvE and PvP aspects of the game will help players level up their character. With each new level, gamers will be rewarded with Scrap. People will need Scrap to craft the various items in the game.

Examples include grenades, weapons, and shield upgrades. Depending on the character's weapon type and abilities, the best items to craft will differ. Scrap rewards players for their efforts and gives them an advantage over newcomers.

4 Scavengers Strategy

Scavengers Objective

Once players have looted the spawn area for a weapon and consumables, they will want to head toward one of the objectives on the map. These objectives will always have a few AI to kill, and gamers will be rewarded with data points if they complete it.

After the first objective is complete, the priority should be to craft a weapon and upgrade armor. If teams have their weapons and a few other upgrades, they are ready to move to a new objective. By preparing after the first objective, squads will have no problem if they get into a fight with an enemy squad in the next location.

3 PvP And Team Composition

Enemies that are killed in PvP will drop their data points. This means that an aggressive PvP strategy can be just as effective as playing the PvE objectives.

Teams will want to select their characters in a way that gives them the best chance of survival. The traditional tank, healer, and DPS composition is generally a good starting point for squads new to the game. It is also important to have at least one Halden in the team to revive and heal downed teammates.

2 Using Vehicles

Teams can utilize the various vehicles throughout the map to objective hop faster. However, the vehicle will need to be repaired to be used, which takes a few seconds.

Vehicles are useful assets for players that want to get as many data points as possible. The downside to using the vehicles is the incredible amount of noise they make. Opposing teams will hear the sound and have a general idea of where the hovercar is.

1 Storms In Scavengers

Scavengers Campfire

There are two different types of storms in Scavengers. The first is a classic collapsing battle royale storm that encroaches as the match progresses. Additionally, there are what are termed "roaming storms" in Scavengers. These storms can appear anywhere on the map and will move during the course of the match.

Roaming storms can cause damage to health or freeze characters over time. The effects of a freezing storm will slowly reduce the health of a player until they are dead.
