Yuito and Kasane are the central characters of the story of Scarlet Nexus. These two characters have a lot of things in common: they have the same powers and skills, they're both natural leaders, and they're passionate and driven. However, as similar as these two characters are, they also have distinct differences that make each character unique.
The storylines presented in Yuito and Kasane's run will eventually intertwine, but their differences lie in how they reach their endings. A question presented in one's storyline line is answered in the other. Knowing the differences between Yuito and Kasane's storylines is integral to the overall narrative in the game and every player should play them both.

10 They Fight Differently
While Yuito and Kasane have the same powers, the way they handle themselves in combat is very different. Each also has one combat aspect that is more powerful than the other.
Yuito's skills make him a more powerful melee combatant. His sword is a much more powerful weapon than Kasane's. On the other hand, Kasane's psychokinesis is more powerful than Yuito's, making her more ideal for players who prefer ranged combat.
9 Different Intros
Just from the intro alone, the player will immediately see the difference between Yuito and Kasane's storyline. In an interesting contrast, Yuito's intro features a memory of the past, while Kasane's portrays an event from the future.
These two scenes will play an integral role in each storyline, as well as the overall story of Scarlet Nexus. They will speak largely to the motivation of both characters in the beginning and as the game progresses.
8 Different Rescue Missions In Phase 1
Phase 1 marks the beginning of both characters' journey as OSF soldiers. After their first official deployment, both characters are sent on rescue missions. While the mission is very similar, who they end up rescuing is different.
For Kasane's storyline, she travels to Kikuchiba to rescue Kagero from a Brawn Yawn. In Yuito's case, he travels to Mizuhagawa to fight alongside Arashi and Gemma against a couple of Bandeau Pendus and an Auger Sabbath.
7 Kasane Travels To The Future
Very early on in the game, Kasane will further explore the scene introduced in the game's prologue. She will unwittingly travel to a destroyed version of Suoh. As it turns out, this place is set in the future.
As they explore this haunting, downtrodden place, they'll encounter a human with abilities. This person is later revealed to be Yuito or the future version of him. This is an experience only unique to Kasane's storyline and explains why she hunts Yuito until they finally reconcile at the end of the game.
6 Yuito Explores Nagi's Story
Nagi is a character with a very unfortunate storyline. After a tragic event involving Naomi, Nagi is separated from Yuito and the others. This marks a series of events that leads up to Nagi's eventual downfall.
Initially, Nagi only shows bizarre behaviors, like forgetting what happened to Naomi. As the game progresses, he starts to show less and less of his humanity. It is revealed that Nagi has gone through a couple of personality-altering experiments, forcing him to hunt his best friend. Unfortunately, Nagi's ending isn't a happy one. He falls and dies on his final attempt to kill Yuito, only showing signs of his original personality in his final moments.
5 Kasane Ties Up Naomi's Storyline
Like Nagi, Naomi is another character that met with a terrible fate in the game. Thanks to her powers of short-term precognition, she is able to save her sister from a gunshot. Unfortunately, her efforts caused her to be hit by the bullet instead. This bullet is then revealed to have materials that transform humans into Others.
In Kasane's storyline, the player is able to explore Naomi's storyline even more. Kasane meets her later on as an Other and she is shown to retain her personality and memory. She then ends up saving her sister's life, as she did before, costing her own.
4 Yuito Finds Out About The Moon First-hand
The backstory of the world of this JRPG title is uncovered more in Yuito's storyline. When traveling to Togetsu for the first time, it is revealed that the current human civilization in the game's world originated from the moon.
The early humans traveled to the moon after a cataclysmic event hit Earth, which made the planet inhabitable. After a significant amount of time, humans decided to inhabit Earth again after it became safe. Kasane's party learns this information too later on, but it was Yuito and company who first learned this bizarre plot twist.
3 Early SAS Abilities
Due to having different party members, the SAS abilities the player is able to use early in the game varies depending on which character they'll play as. Yuito's party consists of Hanabi, Gemma, Tsugumi, and Luka while Kasane is accompanied by Shiden, Arashi, Kyoka, and Kagero.
Interestingly, a lot of the levels in the game have obstacles that can be passed through with the use of an ability from both parties. For example, the progression entails that the player either gets through an obstacle with Luka's teleportation while playing as Yuito, or Arashi's Hypervelocity when playing as Kasane.
2 Yuito's Sickness
One of the subplots of Yuito's storyline is his recurring headaches. While it is shown initially to be harmless, his infliction becomes more and more severe, even causing periodic amnesia and slurred speech later in the game.
This is finally cured thanks to the efforts of Kasane and every other companion in the game. Yuito's storyline explores his sickness, while Kasane's storyline shows exactly how he got cured.
1 Yuito & Kasane's Childhood
Both storylines explore each character's childhood. As minute as they may be, they are very integral in the characters' personalities and motivations in the present day. For Yuito, it explains why he is so eager to be an OSF soldier, and Kasane's childhood shows her ties to her mother and why she is so resilient in the present day.
Yuito's opening scene is finally explored further late in the game, and Kasane's childhood is also vaguely explained when they travel to Togetsu. Both childhood scenes also explore their relationship with their mother, who they both meet later in the game.
